The Metamorphosis of Your Relationship.
Snapchat relationships always seem to follow a cycle, similar to the life of a butterfly. The butterfly lays eggs on a leaf, the eggs turn into a caterpillar, the caterpillar becomes a cocoon, and eventually the cocoon turns into a butterfly– before dying 11-12 months later. My Snapchat relationships don’t just follow this cycle; they mimic its’ every stage. That is until they die out four to five months before the butterfly does. My most monumental Snapchat relationship thus far lasted 10 months with a brown-haired blue-eyed boy (BHBEB). His somewhat funny line about “The Office’’ swept me off my feet and our bond morphed quickly from a caterpillar into a butterfly. Here is our metamorphosis.
THIS IS MY STORY
Added: When you and the other person have added each other back on Snapchat. This will show up as the grey chat box symbol. • A great place to start, this will often lead to messaging or sending selfies back and forth. • Example: Last March, I matched with the BHBEB on Tinder. We sent a few messages back and forth discussing our shared love for Dwight Shrute, then he asked for my Snapchat.
“I am fast. To give you a reference point, I am somewhere between a snake and a mongoose... And a panther.”
Dwight, is that you?

Talking:
Start a streak by sending photos or direct
messages to each other.
• Take initiative and show off your confidence by being the first to start the conversation! • Example: I messaged the BHBEB first, spending hours a day trying to find the perfect lighting for my selfies and filters for my fluffy cat, ButterChunk. Peeking: When someone directly messages you, but you want to see what they said without actually opening it. • The key to peeking at your direct messages is to hold down your finger hard and slowly swipe to read the message. Make sure you don’t open the message all the way! • Example: I always peeked at the BHBEB messages before I would respond; it would give me time to come up with the perfect flirtatious response to him asking a bland-beyond-belief question like, “Where do you live?” My playful response would be something like, “I am a Midwesterner at heart! I grew up in Chicago and I know tons of cool spots to catch up for dinner or something. :)”
