The MAcc program achieved 100 percent job placement for the Class of 2023. Students secured placement by October 2022. Two outstanding MAcc students, Michelle E. Lopez and Jorge Callejas, passed all four parts of the CPA Exam in record time, starting in the fall and wrapping up by mid-February (six months from their first exam). Jorge was our first-ever “3 in 2” student. Not only did he complete his MAcc and CPA in two semesters (2 in 2 program), but he also completed the exams for his CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) as well (making it a 3 in 2)! The Internal Audit Center received $9,000 in grant funding for a graduate research assistant from the Institute of Internal Auditors’ global headquarters. In addition, the IAC and SOA sponsored more than 30 Chief Audit Executives from Georgia firms to host guest lectures in MAcc and undergraduate classes. This year the IAC was recertified as a Center of Excellence for the upcoming five years, 2023 – 2028. MACC The 12th cohort of the Master of Accounting program (our fifth cohort of the new 2 in 2 MAcc program) graduated in May 2023. The 2 in 2 program sees students earning their MAcc degree and sitting for the CPA exam in two semesters. Meanwhile, the upcoming 13th cohort currently has 32 students enrolled. Through the 2022-2023 peer and professional mentoring programs, students were mentored by chief audit executives and corporate tax executives from firms including The Coca-Cola Company, Genuine Parts Company, Delta Air Lines, Mohawk Industries, and McKinsey & Company. In August 2022, the SOA and MAcc program hosted the first MAcc Networking Luncheon. The event allowed students to engage with 14 professionals from corporate and public accounting firms in Metro Atlanta and hear from five top executives about their perspectives on the biggest issues facing the accounting profession.
