Solomon civil war divided the house of Israel into two kingdoms, Rehoboam becoming the ruler of one and Jero boam of the other. The kingdom of the North retained the name of Israel, while Judah was the name of the Southern Kingdom. The kingdom of Judah had the advantage over the Northern Kingdom because the city of Jerusalem was located there, and God had stated clearly that sacrifices were to be offered there and there only. The command had been given in the days of Moses: "But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee” (Deut. 12:5-7). Jerusalem was the place where God had placed His name (cf. John 4 :2 0 -2 2 ). The only place at which the Passover could be observed was Jerusalem, as Deuteronomy 16:2, 5, 6 plainly states: "Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto the Lord thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the Lord shall choose to place his name there.” "Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee: But at the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at
ANGLO-ISRAELISM continued which is to be a part of the 10 confederate kingdoms of the antichrist, is made out to be identical with the throne of God. The British people are said to be "the saints of the Most High” to whom all the kingdoms of the world will be given. Some Anglo-Israelites have gone so far as to say that the smoke which ascends from the blazing furnaces and steam engines of London is identical with the Shekinah glory. One of the great Messianic prophecies, Romans 11:25, 26, is supposed to have been fulfilled in a great Anglo-Israelite, Edward Hine. The Scripture passage reads: "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gen tiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.” An Anglo-Israelite, writing in the magazine L ife from the Dead, attributes this great prophecy to this Hine. Here are his words: "Are the British people identical with the lost ten tribes of Israel? And is the nation, by the identity, being led to glory? If these things are so, then where is the Deliverer? He must already have come out of Sion. He must be doing his great work. He must be amongst us. It is our impression that, by the glory of the work of the identity, we have come to the time of Israel’s national salvation by the Deliverer out of Sion, and that Deliverer and Edward Hine are identical.” If the Anglo-Israelites can believe this, they can believe anything! It would require a greater space than we wish to devote to it to explain how extensively the Anglo-Israelites wrest the Scriptures to make Old Testament prophecies, which have to do with the millennial reign of our Lord, fit in with their amazingly idiotic scheme. W ere the 12 tribes of Israel in the land of Palestine during the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ or were only Jews, mem bers of the tribe of Judah, present at that time? According to the answer to this question, the com plete theory of Anglo-Israelism stands or falls. If we can show from Scripture that the 12 tribes or representatives of the 12 tribes, were in Palestine during the earthly ministry of our Lord; and that not Judah only, but the whole house of Israel, were gathered together at the crucifixion of the Messiah; and that not only Judah, but Ephraim, Manasseh, Napthali, Asher, Dan and all of the rest were equally guilty of that crime, then the system of Anglo-Israelism completely falls apart, and its utter absurdity is revealed. What Saith the Scriptures? We want first to show that hundreds of years before Christ, shortly after the division of Israel into the Northern and Southern Kingdoms, large numbers of the people of the Northern Kingdom immigrated into the Southern Kingdom, until all of the 12 tribes were to be found in the Southern Kingdom. Let us see how this came to pass. After the death of

the going down of the sun, at the season that thou earnest forth out of Egypt.” In order that no question could ever arise as to the place being Jerusalem, Isaiah 18:7 makes it clear: " . . . the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, the mount Zion.” U nder these conditions we can understand the feel ings of the people in the Northern Kingdom at the time of the approach of the feast days. The kings of the North attempted to establish places of worship within their own borders, but these would not satisfy the hearts of the men and women of the Northern Kingdom who had studied the book of the law and desired to obey its commands. Jerusalem was the only place where worship could be given acceptably; consequently, there were thousands among the northern tribes who crossed the border,
