La Chambre de commerce de Prescott-Rus- sell invite la population à une soirée confé- rence animée par la spécialiste en santé et mieux-être au travail, Louise Crawford. C’est le 1 er avril prochain, à 19h30, lors de l’assemblée générale annuelle de la chambre de commerce, que Mme Crawford livrera une conférence portant sur le thème La santé et le mieux-être au travail . La soirée se déroulera au Complexe sportif J.R. Brisson, à Casselman, Mme Crawford donnera des moyens simples et efficaces pour prévenir, iden- tifier et gérer les absences au travail. Elle parlera de la gestion de l’invalidité pour les gestionnaires, quoi faire ou ne pas faire. La santémentale au travail fait également partie de sa présentation et elle donnera quelques outils pour la diagnostiquer. Peu importe la taille de l’entreprise, la conférencière parlera également de la santé et de certaines initiatives que l’entreprise peut faire en améliorant, par exemple, la place de travail de l’employé. Spécialiste en santé et mieux-être au tra- vail à la Financière Sun Life et forte d’une expérience de plus de 20 ans, Mme Crawford a évolué au sein de l’assurance collective dans de grandes entreprises d’assurance. Briefs Township sponsors business support plan
Russell Township will partner with local business agencies to promote and invite local entrepre- neurs, both new and long-established, to take advantage of a series of workshops aimed at helping improve their marketing skills, attract more customers and clients, and increase their sales and profits. Council approved a recommendation from staff for the Russell Township Business Support Program, which will offer five bilingual workshops through the year on business planning, sales strategy, using social media for promotion, and other topics. The Prescott-Russell Community Development Corp. is providing the bulk of the funding for the program. The township’s own finan- cial contribution is about $500 and is already allocated in this year’s budget under the business development strategy portfolio. – Gregg Chamberlain SNC works on erosion control plans The South Nation Conservation Authority (SNC) has a busy schedule planned for water erosion control projects this year, if it can obtain the funding aid from the province. The SNC board approved recommendations from staff for applications to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Fisheries for $167,500 from the ministry’s water and erosion control infrastructure fund for seven projects that are part of the SNC’s 2015 capital works budget. They include a new safety boom and anchor for the Plantagenet weir on the South Nation River, a safety assessment review of the Russell weir, a paint log lifter at the Chesterville dam along with purchase and installation of some stop logs, and three projects in Crysler dealing with tree removal along the Crysler dyke, log removal at the dam plus cleaning and inspection of the bays, and installation of a new safety boom. – Gregg Chamberlain
