Dignitaries and community members gathered for the bilingual presentation of the Franco-Ontarian Manifesto, which was written with contributions from approximately fifty writers, joined together through social media, in order to express the attachment to Ontario felt by the province’s Francophones, as well as their attachment to their French language and culture. Russell Township is moving ahead with plans for attracting new business to the municipality through expansion of the 417 Industrial Park. Township council approved a proposal from administration for an application to the Infrastructure Ontario (IO) municipal infrastructure loan program. The application deals with the purchase of 60 acres of land adjacent to the 417 Industrial Park. Purchase price for the land and to develop
The IO loan program assists municipali- ties with road, bridge and other infrastructure projects and often has lower interest rates for repayment compared to banks and other financial institutions. Township administra- tion will get quotes for a 20-year loan from other sources and present council with a final report and recommendation on financing the land purchase during a later session.
