Ardmac was appointed to deliver the complete retail fit- out of a new flagship store within CastleCourt Shopping Centre, bringing together the SimplyBe and Jacamo brands under one contemporary retail environment. The project formed part of JD Williams’ continued investment in expanding its physical retail presence while creating an enhanced in-store experience for customers. Delivered over an intensive eight-week programme, the project involved the full strip-out of the existing retail unit and the construction of a completely new store concept tailored to both fashion brands. The fit-out included the installation of a wide range of architectural finishes, bespoke joinery elements, feature displays, upgraded lighting systems, and the refurbishment and enhancement of the existing mechanical and electrical services throughout the store. A key element of the project was the installation of a new passenger lift, requiring careful coordination with both the design team and shopping centre management to ensure minimal disruption to neighbouring tenants and the public.
The completed layout was designed to provide a modern, accessible, and customer-focused retail environment that reflected the identity and style of both SimplyBe and Jacamo. One of the principal challenges of the project was the live operational nature of CastleCourt Shopping Centre throughout the construction period. Ardmac implemented detailed logistics and site management procedures to safely manage deliveries, waste removal, and construction activities within a busy public environment. Close communication with shopping centre management and key stakeholders was maintained at all times, particularly in relation to noisy works, access arrangements, and out-of-hours activities. Through careful planning, proactive stakeholder engagement, and efficient programme management, Ardmac successfully delivered the project on time and to a high standard of finish. The completed store provides JD Williams with a vibrant and contemporary retail space that enhances customer experience while supporting the continued growth of both the SimplyBe and Jacamo brands in Northern Ireland.
