The Rathfarnham Clubhouse is regarded as one of the finest appointed golf club dining facilities in Dublin, with panoramic views over the golf course and Dublin Mountains. In 2023, the Club undertook a major refurbishment and extension to modernise its facilities and enhance the overall member experience. A key priority was delivering the works ahead of the annual Pro-Am tournament, while maintaining full business-as-usual operations for members throughout construction. The project included upgrades to male and female changing rooms, including shower and WC facilities, improvements to back-of-house staff areas and the kitchen, and the creation of a new bar and lounge. A new main entrance, managers’ offices, and an extension to the external terrace seating area were also delivered. Ardmac was appointed to deliver the refurbishment and fit-out works on a fast-tracked programme, working closely with JLL Dublin, Studio 3, and STEM Consulting Engineers. Early-stage feasibility, design coordination, and cost planning ensured the scheme was practical, alignedwiththeClient’svision,anddeliveredwithinbudget.
Works were carefully phased to minimise disruption. The men’s changing rooms and back-of-house areas were completed first, with temporary facilities installed on site to maintain operations. Once handed over, these upgraded spaces were made available to female members while further works progressed. Social areas, including the function room, bar, and lounge, were delivered on an accelerated programme, supported by early procurement and off-site fabrication of joinery. These areas were completed within a one-week intensive phase. The project was successfully delivered in time for the Pro-Am tournament, significantly enhancing the clubhouse’s functionality and member experience. ‘Working with Ardmac on the upgrade and extension of our Golf Club has been an excellent experience.
