sibility do you think a member of your profession has to be involved in the community? Clemons: I thinks it’s important for all of humanity who are fortunate to serve the community in some capacity. How we use our God- given talents for the betterment of mankind is in the fabric of education just as many professions. Education in itself is a service that our society must have. Education, at any level, is the foundation of our society and it’s growth. Additionally, service and involvement is an important compe- tent to Higher Education. It’s part of our three pillars of work - research, teaching, service. We in education have an awesome responsibility to be involved in our community in some capacity. Clemons: I enjoy the positive impact my profession has on society. The ability to support those who seek to continue their education and develop as leaders by way of college is rewarding, but most of all - no day is the same. I enjoy that no day is the same. Journal: How has Kappa Alpha Psi ® played a role in your profes- sional or educational career? Clemons: Growing up, I knew very little to nothing about fraternities and sororities but the mentors I had in college were all men of Kappa. After joining Kappa Alpha Psi ® , and getting involved on campus, my mentors suggested I think about higher education as a profession. In short, Kappa has played a big role in my profession, members of Kappa Journal: What motto do you live by? Clemons: It’s a motto my Grand- mother used - Tough times don’t last, tough people do. Journal: What do you like most about your job?

Outside of this, most of my contributions or acts of service to the community come by way of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . This is something that I’m very proud of, to be involved with an organization that makes such an impact on the lives of many. Journal: Are you involved in trade organizations related to your profes- sion?? Clemons: I am a member of the National Association of Student Per- sonnel Administrators (NASPA), Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA); and the Association of College Personnel Administrators (ACPA).

Clemons: I am a Higher education professional/Leadership Develop- ment Consultant. Journal: What were you involved in campus service, athletics or commu- nity wise, while in college? Clemons: While in college, I was involved with student government. I served as Student Body President for two terms and Student Regent on the University Board of Regents. Service to the campus by way of Student Government was a passion that sparked my interest on higher education as a profession which also led into leadership development consulting. Journal: How do you use your professional skills to benefit the community?
