T he annual Army-Navy game is one of college football’s greatest rivalries and traditions. In the Chambers family, the Army-Navy rivalry extended to two sib- lings, Lawrence and his younger brother Andrew. Lawrence Chambers (not a Kappa) served in the United States Navy rising to the rank of rear admiral where- as Andrew Chambers served in the United States Army earning the rank of lieutenant general. ficers in their respective military branch. For Andrew Chambers, he served his country with distinction for over 35 years. Brother Gen. Andrew P. Cham- bers entered the Chapter Invisible at age 85 on June 3, 2017. Brother Chambers was a 1950 initiate of the Xi of Kappa Alpha Psi at Howard University. Born on June 30, 1931 in Bedford, Virginia, to Charlotte Hadessa (Selden) and Lawrence Everett Chambers. He later moved to Washington, DC, after the death of his father, with his mother

and four siblings; Charlotte, Loretta, Lawrence, and Melvin. Brother Cham- bers attended Washington, D.C.’s Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School where he earned an Army ROTC Scholar- ship. After graduation, he enrolled at Howard University majoring in physi- cal education and joined the school’s ROTC program. Chambers graduated from Howard University in 1954 and was commissioned soon afterward as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
