tage Negotiator before retiring in 2005. Brother Clayton never met a stranger, was a doting dad and father figure to many young men in the community. He taught life lessons through sports to help them to achieve their life goals. He coached the Scott Park - Doberman Gang football team, served with the First Tee Golf Program, Police Athletic League, and Grand Park Athletic Asso- ciation. He also volunteered his service to many other community organizations and when he wasn’t on the golf course he fulfilled his love of sports by playing as an amateur football player for the Police Magnum Force Football Team wearing jersey #47. Officer Clayton was initiated into the Delta Psi of Kappa Alpha Psi® at Edward Waters College on March 3, 1981. His civic and religious affiliations included Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church, National Black Police Association, Jacksonville Broth- erhood of Police, Fraternal Order of Police, and membership in the Modern Free and Accepted Masons of the World the Oakland Lodge 1982. He was predeceased by his mother, Ven- etta Singleton; brother, Willie E. Clay- ton, Jr.; and nephew, Erin E. Oglesby. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kwanzaa Gibson Spells (Rob- ert, II), Ashley Perkins (Paul), Tabari Clayton (Angela), and Ashton Clayton; father, Willie E. Clayton, Sr. (Emma); grandchildren, Haniyah, Taylor, and Jalin Spells, Teagan, Marion, Camden, and Adrien Clayton; sisters, Barbara Brown, Beverly C. Oglesby (Eugene), and Andrea Middleton; brothers, Danny Clayton, Bobby Clayton (Arleen), An- drew Singleton, Eric Clayton (Patricia), Gary Clayton, and Samuel Singleton; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, best friend, Thomas Tarver and many other friends.

(Dorothy) Bruton [Denver, Colorado]; children: Rosemary Smiley [Jacksonville, Florida], Victor McNair [Atlanta, Georgia] and Michelle Tramel [Miami, Florida]; nieces and nephews: Jeannette Stroughter Hall [Jacksonville, Florida], Michelle Bruton Brown and Sabra Hernandez [Denver, Colorado], Rosemary Bruton, Acie Stroughter III (Saundra), Reginald Stroughter, Ronald (Calromea) Stroughter [Jacksonville, Florida], Bertram Stroughter [Denver, Colorado] and James Leonard (Abigail) Bruton, Jr., [Boynton Beach, Florida]; friend: Willie ”Bubba” Jones and a host of many other relatives and loved ones. Gregory E. Clayton 1953–2016 Police Officer and Community Servant Officer Gregory Ernest Clayton, was born on October 4, 1953, in Jackson- ville, Florida to Wil- lie E. Clayton, Sr. and Venetta Preston Singleton and entered Chapter Invisible peacefully on August 24, 2016. One of ten children, he graduated from Englewood High School in 1972 and later attended Florida Community Col- lege at Jacksonville, earning an Associate of Science Degree. In December 1974, he graduated from Jacksonville Police Academy and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Edward Waters College in 1984. Brother Clayton served the Jack- sonville Sheriff ’s Office for 32 years. He began his career as a patrol officer and served the community in many roles as a member of JSO including, Burglary Vice Squad Detective, Child Abuse/Missing Persons, Crimes Against Property, and Internal Affairs. was the seventh of their nine children. After spending his early years between Newberry, Florida and Bamberg, South Carolina he graduated from Old Stanton High School in Jacksonville, Florida in 1944. Brother Bruton served his country in the U.S. Army for two years and went on to matriculate to Florida A and M Univer- sity where he completed the Reserved Officers Training Course (ROTC) and was commissioned as Second Lieuten- ant then earning a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts. For over thirty years, Brother Bruton taught vocational education courses such as graphic arts, metals, woodwork and tailoring in the Broward County and Duval County public school systems. He became involved in professional con- cerns such as school integration, salary negotiations and teacher equality. He was an avid traveler, jazz aficionado and collector of cameras and photographs; often being sought out for his services as a skilled photographer and printer. Brother Bruton was initiated into the Alpha Xi of Kappa Alpha Psi® at Florida AandM University on April 27, 1950, and served with distinction as a 50 Year Member. He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Robert Sr., Willie, Mozelle, James, Wilbert, Bismark, and Leola Stroughter. He married Queen Hargrett Bruton in 1955 and they had four children: Angela Valletta Bruton, Sharon Yvonne (David) Bruton Glover, George Everette (Merline) Bruton III
