Jerry Fluellen, Jr. Educational Psychologist

Brother Fluellen was initiated into the Gamma Omega of Kappa Alpha Psi® at Cheyney University on December 4, 1965, and was a distinguished 50 Year Member. He co-founded and served as President and Director of Education for Obama Family Network Jackson- ville, Florida; held membership in the International Mind, Brain, Education Society; professional member of the World Future Society, an Advisory Board Member of the Education Board, the Futurist Board for Lifeboat Founda- tion and was a member of Historic St. Thomas African Episcopal Church. He also practiced TM/Sidha meditation neuroscience based principles of well- ness from the super brain book; Lumos- ity brain training; and Tai Chi. He is survived by his wife, Ingrid Montgomery, siblings, children, grandchildren and a host of other relatives and loved ones. Spencer Brian Howard, DDS 1973–2017 Dental Surgeon and Dedicated to Family and Community

Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He remained at the University of North Carolina for his specialty training, earning his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After receiving his OMFS certificate, Brother Howard went into private practice in Durham, North Carolina and was also an adjunct faculty member at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Den- tistry and a sub-specialty physician at Wake Medical Center in Cary, NC. He later practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery at Smile Design Manhattan and North East Implant and Oral Surgery, both in New York. He was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. He was passionate about his family, friends, his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, soccer, intellectual debate, his work, as well as his fraternity, Durham NC Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Frater- nity, Inc. Brother Howard is survived by his wife of 15 years, Ellison Howard, his three children, Spencer Brian Howard, II (10), Ellison Spencer Howard (8), Essien Spencer Howard (7), his parents, Samuel Howard and Erlene Howard, his twin brother Kris Howard, his sister-in- law, Gizelle Howard, and a host of other family members and close friends. entered Chapter Invisible on De- cember 7, 2016. As an educational psychologist living in Jacksonville,

Florida, he graduated from Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennes- see, went on to matriculate to Temple University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, and then his Masters of Science in Psychoeducational Processes, and con- tinued his graduate study coursework at Harvard University, Howard University and University of Pennsylvania with a fo- cus on Educational Psychology, Human Learning and Cognition. He was the author of 34 documents published in the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) worldwide database, he has presented at more than three dozen International, national and regional conferences. He invented the power-teach ng prototype (P=fm/c) a model he refined at Edward Waters Col- lege. Power teaching designs, directs and delivers student centered instruction. His model includes Mind, Brain and Education (MBE) Science, an emerging discipline for teach ng and learning in a digital age. Professor Fluellen taught learners from Get Set to Grad school. He started out as a merit raise winning instructor at Temple University. Then, he taught grade school and earned runner up for the Ruth Hare Best Teacher of the Year Award in the Philadelphia Public School system. He was a Spencer Foundation Fellow and Teacher Consultant in the Philadelphia Writing Project at Universi- ty of Pennsylvania, served as Superinten- dent’s Literacy Coach for the District of Columbia Public Schools, and served as an adjunct professor of psychology ln the Social and Behavioral Sciences

Spencer Brian Howard, DDS (Durham NC Alumni – 1998) entered the Chapter Invisible on April 28, 2017. He was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, West

Indies, along with his twin brother, Kris, to Samuel and Erlene Howard. Spencer left Trinidad after graduating from Queens Royal College (QRC) to further his education. Brother Howard is an alumnus of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa when he graduated with a B.Sc. in Mathematics. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, earning a
