McRae- Jones; three children: Lawrence E. Jones, (Miami, FL.), Monica L. Brown (Angelo) and The Honorable Mia L. Jones (George Davis); grandchildren: Ashley Nataé Brown, Kiah Lanese Jones, Edwin Lamont Jones, Ashton De’Angelo Brown, Giovanni Lamont Jones, Kendall James Ford; godson Michael Lawrence Holsey (Vanessa) and a host of loving family and friends. Larry C. McGhee, Sr. 1933–2017 Professor, Director and Community Trustee

After graduating, he was employed by Southern University as an Instructor of Architectural Drafting (1955 – 1956). Larry then served as Chairman of the Drafting and Design department at Prai- rie View A&M College in Prairie View, Texas (1956 – 1968). Brother McGhee, Sr. rendered more than 40 years of service in various ca- pacities at Southern University – Baton Rouge, including Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering (1968 – 1983), and Director of Facilities Planning (1983 – 2001). Upon his unofficial retirement in 2001, Larry continued to serve the Southern University System and SUBR campus as a consultant until his actual retirement in 2008. After retirement Larry served in an advisory capacity with the Baton Rouge Recre- ation Commission and served on the College List of Municipal Fire & Police Civil Service Board. His entrepreneur- ial spirit led him to form A&M Drafting Services, Inc. with his longtime friend and Kappa Brother Kirkland Alfred. He was instrumental in the development of numerous engineering and architec- tural professionals that came under his tutelage, this includes his son, who is a past National Chairman of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Guide Right Program. Brother McGhee attended Bethel A.M.E. Church in Baton Rouge where he faithfully served as Pro Tem of the Trustee Board, and a member of the Sons of Allen. Brother McGhee was a 64-year member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., having been initiated through the Alpha Sigma Chapter at Southern University in 1953. Larry served as the 19 th Baton Rouge Alumni Chapter Polemarch (1977-1979). He served as Chapter Advisor to the Alpha Sigma Chapter twice, in the early 1970s, and again from 2000 to 2004. He was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., a Charter Member of the Southwestern Province Life Mem- bership Program, a supporter of the Kappa Foundation, Inc., the Southwest- ern Education & Leadership Training

County Public Schools and graduated from Matthew W. Gilbert High School in 1953. Brother Jones served his country in the U.S. Army (1953-1955) earning the rank of Sergeant and upon discharge went on to receive his Bach- elor of Science in Physical Education and Elementary Education from Florida Normal and Industrial College (now Florida Memorial University) in 1958 and his Master of Business Administra- tion from the College of William and Mary. Brother Jones was a classroom teacher and Head Girls Basketball Coach (1958-1960) for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in St. Augustine, FL, and a classroom/physical educa- tion teacher, Head Baseball, Basketball, and Swimming Coach (1960-1967) in the Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, FL. He served in the roles of Vice President and Executive Direc- tor (1967-1994) and Board Member of the James Weldon Johnson Branch of the First Coast YMCA and then served on the Advisory Board until his passing. He was also a dutiful member of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church in Jackson- ville, FL for 40 years having served as Chairman of the Trustee Board until the time of his passing. Brother Jones was initiated into the Gamma Theta of Kappa Alpha Psi® at Bethune-Cookman College, on May 15, 1957, and served with distinction as a 50 Year and Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He served as Keeper of Records, Vice Polemarch, and the 21 st Polemarch of the Jacksonville (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (1971-1976) holding the notability of serving as Polemarch during the Fraternity’s 50 th Anniversary. During his tenure, he produced the origination of the Jacksonville Alumni Chapter Guide Right Leadership and Development Program (Kappa League) within the chapter. Jones other affilia- tions consisted of serving in every offi- cer’s position including President for the FLA-JAX Club, Inc.; Vice President of the Florida Memorial University Alumni Association; Founding member of the

Larry Clayton McGhee, Sr. was born February 18, 1933. He was a native of New Orleans, Louisi- ana, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, and moved

to Gilbert, Arizona to enjoy his retire- ment years. He transitioned to the Chapter Invisible on June 1, 2017. At the time of his passing, he was married to Silhouette Gladys Williams McGhee, and was preceded in death by his first Silhouette Fredericka Williams Mc- Ghee. He earned his Bachelor of Science de- gree in Industrial Education and Build- ing Construction from Southern Univer- sity and A&M College in Baton Rouge, and his Master of Science in Industrial Technology at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. He continued his education with further studies at Ohio State University, the University of Michigan and Cal State Pomona.
