Kappa Journal Conclave Issue (Summer 2017)

COVER STORY UNDERGRADUATE SPOTLIGHT: LAMBDA OMEGA

Louidor: Lambda Omega has trans- formed the UCF campus in many ways–from the football field to leader- ship across campus. The brothers of Lambda Omega have acquired lead- ership positions within many differ- ent organizations across campus, and therefore uses those positions to affect the community. The brothers have lead- ership roles within the Jamaican Student Association, Alpha Kappa Psi profes- sional business fraternity, homecoming court, and Tmrw Company, an event management organization on campus, just to name a few. Journal: What do you do to help ensure your collective GPA remains competitive for Southern Province Rewards? Louidor: To keep my GPA competitive, I constantly remind myself that the goal is to do exceptionally well in school to ensure graduation. My academics come first to me, and extracurricular activi- ties after. I never overload myself to the point where I am no longer able to focus on my academics. Journal: What participation and contri- butions have you made to the planning of the 83 rd Grand Chapter Meeting? Louidor: Our chapter Lambda Omega is the official undergraduate host of the 83 rd Grand Chapter Meeting. We are in charge of planning and executing all undergraduate events and activities for the conclave. Journal: What has been your favorite part so far? Louidor: My favorite part of being the undergraduate host of the 83 rd Grand Chapter Meeting so far has been meeting and making connections with brothers from different chapters. Journal: What has been the most chal- lenging?

Louidor: My hobbies include hanging out with friends, playing spades, reading books, playing intramural sports and going to the gym.

Journal: Who is your mentor?

Louidor: Timanni Walker, a current branch strategist at Allen & Gerritsen, is my mentor. I met Timanni freshman year through Alpha Kappa Psi where we formed an immediate bond. She saw the potential in me and took me under her wing. She has played a huge role in my collegiate career, helped me stay focused and has pro- vided me with encouragement and advice throughout the years. Louidor: My favorite subject would be History. Learning about the past and how it correlates with the present is something I find interest in. I also enjoy Marketing because it is relatable to my everyday life and future career. Journal: Do you have a favorite subject? Louidor: The former vice president of UCF and dean of students, Dr. Jenkins, is a brother of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . I was given the opportunity to have several conversa- tions with him Spring semester of my freshman year, in which he inspired me to learn more about the Noble Clan of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Journal: What does Kappa Alpha Psi ® mean to you? Louidor: Kappa Alpha Psi ® to me is a brotherhood of great individuals who acquire a similar mindset as me and whose purpose in life is to achieve in every field in human endeavor. It is a lifetime bond that I am extremely grateful to be a part of. Kappa Alpha Psi ® has allowed me to develop and grow as a person. Journal: How has Lambda Omega trans- formed the UCF campus? Journal: How did you find Kappa?

Louidor: Keeping everyone on the same page in terms of planning for the meet- ing has been most challenging for me. Journal: Use three distinct words your friends would use to describe you. Louidor: Ambitious, charismatic and genuine. Journal: What do you find are the most pressing challenges for undergraduate members? Louidor: To me the most pressing chal- lenge for undergraduate members would be staying focused on Kappa philanthro- pies. As an undergraduate member, you are still finding yourself, therefore it is easy to get caught up in the distractions of college. These distractions may lead undergraduate members to stray from what is important, our academics and our philanthropies. Journal: How would you propose to overcome those challenges? Louidor: To overcome these chal- lenges, it is important that undergradu-
