University. All of these great Kappa men helped to define who I am today and are the individuals who were instrumental to leading me to Kappa. Journal: What does Kappa Alpha Psi ® mean to you? Spencer: Kappa Alpha Psi ® means achievement in every field of human endeavor. Achievement is defined as a thing that is done successfully, typically by great effort, courage or skill. As men of Kappa, each one of us must continue to put forth great effort to continuously develop our leadership skills in multiple areas so that whatever situation we find ourselves in, we can succeed. This is our calling and this is what I believe it means to be a Kappa. Journal: As a member of the Winter Park (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Al- pha Psi Fraternity, Inc., what participa-

tion and contributions have you made to the surrounding community since you’ve been in the Orange County area? Spencer: I work with the Business Development Committee of WPAC to cultivate relationships in the commu- nity that are mutually beneficial to the students we serve with our scholarship program and the businesses in our com- munity. As the co-chairmen of the Jack Leflore Memorial Golf tournament, we raised over $10,000 in scholarships for deserving students in Central Florida. Journal: Where do you see the Winter Park (FL) Alumni chapter in the next 10 years? Spencer: I see the Winter Park (FL) Alumni Chapter as a key organization in the Central Florida (WPAC) com- munity creating programs and working with other agencies in the community

Spencer: Men of Kappa have been a great influence on my life and through their exemplary behaviors and char- acteristics, I found Kappa. My late uncle, George Nash, who has gone on to the Chapter Invisible was a role model of fatherhood throughout my childhood. He was always there for everybody - his children, his nieces, nephews and all the kids in the neigh- borhood. Rev. Malone Smith helped me grow spiritually. As s young man, he helped me to become grounded in my faith and helped to set my moral compass. In high school, Dr. Kef- lyn Reed provided guidance through Kappa League. He helped me think about and prepare for college. As Dean of the Tuskegee School of Busi- ness, Dr. Benjamin Newhouse pro- vided advice and counsel that helped me matriculate through Tuskegee
