The intent of the WELL Building Standard is to bring together the best practices in design and construction with health and wellness. The standard focuses on six key elements shown to positively impact occupant health and pro- ductivity: air quality, water quality, nourishment, light, fitness, and comfort. Burns Scalo made the choice to pursue WELL cer- tification for The Riviera at 300 Technology Dr., inside the Pittsburgh Technology Center (PTC) in Oakland, to support the health and well- ness initiatives of prospec- tive tenants. Today’s leading corporation and institutions recognize the increased im- portance between employee happiness and productivity and are continuing to de- mand the workplaces they inhabit to incorporate these values.
