The Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study (JIAS) seeks to explore the liminal spaces between conventional scholarship in the hope of answering the deepest questions facing our world and beyond. JIAS is a joint initiative of the University of Johannesburg and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. It promotes advanced research in the humanities and natural sciences – reaching out beyond the regular teaching and research activities at institutions of higher learning.
In JIAS understanding begins with eliminating the barriers established by orthodox academic framings.
