The Christian Education courses seek to give the necessary undergraduate training for effective professional service in the educational program of the church and its related agencies in America and on the foreign field. The major in Christian Education is designed to place emphasis upon thorough study of the Bible, an adequate background in lib­ eral arts (especially psychology), and Christian Education. Courses in Christian Education are planned to give theoretical training, practical experience, and technical ski ll. The Christian Education Department seeks to serve the local church in training leadership for its program of evangelism, education, and missions. Students completing a major in Christian Education will receive the certificate of the Evangelical Teacher Training Association. D epartment Major: 30 units of which 24 must be upper divi­ sion including 12 units of Christian Education foundation courses (201, 301, 302, and 401), 7 units of Psychology (301 and 310), 6 units age-group studies (303, 304, and 402), and field work of 2 or 6 units (optional program under advisement of the depart­ ment). A minor of 20 units must then be chosen in a correlated area under departmental advice: e.g. Christian Education skills, psy­ chology, sociology, physical education, or missions. A group minor may be arranged with department consent. An explanation and demonstration of the most effective methods of preparing and presenting Biblical material, in­ cl uding ways of leading the pupil to an intelligent acceptance of Christ as Saviour.
