4. Should other circumstances exist whereby it is clearly not feasible for the student to reside in the college, special permission to live elsewhere may be obtained from the Faculty. THE DORMITORY Life in almost any dormitory is interesting, hut in a school where all entrants must be Christian young people, this is especially true. Living together with hundreds of young people all having a vital interest in the Lord’s work, one finds a fellowship both unique and satisfying. Living in close contact with one another, Biola students are given an opportunity to practice the fine art of living together, and to give expression to true Christian consideration and helpfulness. Morning and evening devotions are a source of help and inspiration. Immediately before evening study hours, the dormitory family meets for family worship. Corridor prayer meetings, in which students living in a single corridor, or on an entire floor, meet for intercessory- prayer, are held at stated intervals. Requests are presented and many answers are experienced, as well as other blessings to all who participate. Rooms are furnished, heated, lighted, and supplied with running water, hot and cold. The college supplies and launders blankets and linen. Bedspreads and draperies are to he furnished by the students, as they desire. Students care for their own rooms. A sewing machine is available in the women’s dormitory. A deposit of $10.00 is required to hold a dormitory room. This amount will be applied on room rent when the room is occupied, or refunded if notice of change of plan is given at least one month before the opening date of the semester for which reservation has been made. LAUNDRY Laundry rooms in the basement are available for dormitory students. Washing machines are available at no extra fee. Electric irons are not provided by the school. Students should bring irons that can be used on direct current. STUDENT MAINTENANCE Each student will be required to spend one hour a week, including examination and vacation weeks, in work that contributes to keeping the building clean, supplies available, and equipment arranged. Outside students may elect to pay a Non-Residence Maintenance Fee in lieu of maintenance assignment. Maintenance assignments that fall on holidays or week ends when a student does not expect to be at schQol must be taken care of before leaving school or by a substi tute provided by the student.
