301 ADULT NURSING I - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on: (!) a community survey; (2) assessment of a healthy family; and (3) at a beginning level, identification of an inter­ vention to meet the needs of the mature family member who is hospitalized. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 302 ADULT NURSING 11 - LECTURE (4) Continuation of 301. In depth study of the major illnesses (acute and chronic) affecting the maturing family. An emphasis on the nurse's role as a change agent as he intervenes toward the return to health , adaptation to a new level of functioning, or peaceful death. Concepts introduced in 300 expanded. Prerequisite : 30 I. 302 ADULT NURSING II - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on the mature family member with a major illness requiring hospitalization. The student cares for a family which has been disrupted by illness . Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. NURSING OF THE CHILD - LECTURE (3) Family-centered parent and child care during the development of the child. Emphasis on the nurse's role in maintaining health or improving the level of wellness with the child and/or family in disequilibrium. Information from growth and deve lopment, nutrition , pharmacology , and other disciplines included. Prerequisite : 302. 401 401 (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on child care at home and in the hospital in acute and long-term rehabilitative settings. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee$ I0.00. NURSING OF THE CHILD - LABORATORY 402 MATERNITY NURSING - LECTURE (3) Family-centered parent and child care during the maternity cycle. Emphasis on the nurse's role in maintaining health in the healthy family and improving the level of wellness with the family in disequilibrium. Information from psychology, sociology, nutrition, pharma­ cology, and other disciplines included. Prerequisite: 302. 402 MATERNITY NURSING - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experiences focusing on meeting the needs of healthy or problem families in the physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual areas. Families are observed and cared for antepartally, during labor and delivery, post-partally , and in the nursery. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 410 ADVANCED NURSING - LECTURE (2) Group dynamics including leadership styles and planning for change. Trends and issues in nursing from an historical perspective. Attention on the health care system at the local, state, national, and international levels and their relationship to the nurse's role. Nursing organization, legal responsibilities , and legislation pertaining to health care, nursing educa­ tion and practice considered. A beginning investigation of selected patient problems. Pre­ requisite: 402 or acceptable equivalent. (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience providing leadership opportunity to super­ vise a nursing team and collaborate with other members of the health team.
