in value from $300 to full tuition per year. The types of scholarships offered are as follows : academic, athletic, music, service, and speech. In addition to those offered by the College, there are others provided through the generosity of donors. These include the Les Barnett, Jean Bernard, Albert Kelly, McBride-Loe, and George Mayr scholarships. Information regarding the college scholarship program and application blanks may be obtained through the Financial Aids Office. Loans Biola College has certain revolving funds which are used for short-term student loans. A student may borrow up to $500 per year; the loan is interest-free, the only charge being a nominal service fee. In general, these are reserved for stu­ dents whose needs are of a short duration, as the entire amount must be repaid before each fall semester begins . For those who need assistance over a longer period of time, funds are available through the National Defense Student Loan Program. These funds are available to entering freshmen and transfer students as well as to those already enrolled. United Student Aid Funds, Inc., and federally insured loans, ranging up to $1,500 per year, are available. Biola College is pleased to recommend to parents a monthly payment program permitting them to pay from one to four years of educational expenses over periods as long as 60 months. This service, avai lable through Education Funds, Inc. of Providence, Rhode I sland, offers broad insurance coverage which assures the continuance of the student's education for the length of the agreement in event of the parent's death or disability. Unlike some other programs, EFI has no cancellation charge . Information regarding the various loan programs may be obtained from the Financial Aids Office. Student Aid As funds are available, the College awards grants-in-aid to needy students from the Student Aid Fund. This fund is maintained by gifts from friends of the College. Students are not r equired to r epay the College but are expected to per­ petuate the fund by their own contributions when they have completed school. This will provide funds for others who are in need. RESIDENCE REQUIREMENTS All students who are not married or living with their parents are required to live in the residence halls. Any exception must be approved by the Dean of Students Office prior to registration. Students living on campus are r equired to carry a minimum of ten units. THE RESIDENCE HALLS Rooms accommodate two students and are equipped with individual study desks, ~ingle beds, and individual wardrobe closets and chest of drawers . Each floor has baths, shower rooms, and laundry rooms equipped with metered washing machines and driers. 38
