In-depth investigations into a particular area of interest in literature. Sect ions offered every year in subjec ts grouped in four major categories: Genre: inc ludes studies in poe try, drama. and the novel. Themat ic: includes studies in genera l areas of interest such as a ll egory, sc ie nce fiction, and fo lklore; and in spec ific topics such as the c it y, apocalypse. the hero, love and marriage. and the Fall. Cu ltural: includes comparati ve stud ies of a particular cu ltu ral or igin such as Afro , French , Jewish, Or iental , Russian. Literary Criticism: inc ludes studies in the history of criticis rn , modern theories, and app lication of principles in the reading of literature. 470 SEMINAR (1-3) Reading, research, and d iscuss ion in a reas determined by student need and interest.
