Now, hear what I’m about to say, “Husbands and wives, you’re God’s brushes. God would wipe you, husband, across the pallet of His grace. God would wipe you, wife, across the pallet of His grace and through you, paint His transforming grace on the heart of your husband or your wife.” Here’s the sole issue of this time together. Hear what I am about to say. “Are you a soft brush in His redemptive hands?” Have you ever tried to paint with a hard brush? Doesn’t pick up the paint very well; it scratches the very surface it was meant to make beautiful. Now, I have to say this, “There are hard-brush husbands in this room.” You had hard brush moments this week, and your bristles need to be softened by that very same grace so you can be a more effective carrier of that grace to the heart of your wife. Men, think about it, where do your bristles need to be softened? There are hard-brush wives in this room. You had hard brush moments this week, and your bristles need to be softened by that very same grace so you’re a more effective carrier of that grace to the heart of your husband. Ladies, where do your bristles need to be softened? In that final day when we see the assembly of the canvas of the glory of God’s grace, we won’t be able to do anything but worship. It will be the most vibrant, exuberant, raucous worship ever. And as we’re literally screaming in worship, a voice will speak, and it will say, “Well done, good and faithful servants.” Are you ready for this? God will thank His brushes. Monet never did that. Picasso never did that. Rembrandt never did that, but that’s exactly what God will do. Oh, that as husbands; oh, that as wives, we would be soft brushes in His redemptive hands, allowing Him, through that, to create the change that only He can create. If only once you were a soft brush in His hands, and that led to the heart change of your husband or wife, your entire life would have been worth living. Oh, that we would be soft brushes in His redemptive hands. Let’s Pray: Lord, what a journey we’ve taken together. We have walked through the garden of your glory, and wisdom, and grace. We have seen flowers of stunning beauty; we have smelled their aroma, and we would pray that we would be changed. It’s right, right now, for us to say that we love You, but we would confess that the greatest, fullest, deepest joy of our lives is that we’ve been loved by You. You are a rock and a fortress. You are a sun and a shield. You are life, and health, and faithfulness, and peace, and truth, and redemption, and reconciliation. You are hope to us. We are so deeply grateful that You’ve entered our lives by Your grace. We’re so grateful that You’ve given us a Kingdom way better than anything we would construct for ourselves. Oh, may You grace us with the desire and the power to seek Your Kingdom in our marriages. We pray these things for the sake of everyone hearing these words, for the sake of Your church, for the sake of the furtherance of Your kingdom, and ultimately for the sound of Your glory. And we pray these things in the sweet and strong name of Jesus, the Savior, the Lamb, the King! Amen.
