Clinical courses require three hours of laboratory for each unit of credit. The general education requirement for a foreign language for those following a nursing major may be met by two years of high school language or the first four units of a college language. Nursing majors are exempt from the general education requirements of three units of literature and six units of world civilization. A beginning focus on the illness portion of the health-illness cycle; an introduction to the nurse's role as a change agent as he intervenes toward the return to health , adaptation to a new level of function , or peaceful death . 301 ADULT NURSING I - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on : (1) a community survey ; (2) assessment of a heal thy family ; and (3) at a beginning level , identification of an inter­ vention to meet the needs of the mature family member who is hospitalized. An emphasis on the nurse's role as a change agent as he int(;!rvenes toward the return to health , adaptation to a new level of functioning , or peaceful death . Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on the mature family member with a major illness requiring hospitalization. The student cares for a family which ha s been disrupted by illness. Twelve hours laboratory. Fee $10.00. 401 NURSING OF THE CHILD - LECTURE (3) Family-centered parent and child care during the development of the child . Emphasis on the nurse's role in maintaining health or improving the level of wellness with the child and/or family in disequilibrium. Information from growth and development, nutrition , Concepts introduced in 300 expanded. Prerequisite: 301. 302 ADULT NURSING II - LABORATORY (4) Theory and concurrent laboratory experience focusing on child care at home and in the hospital in acute and long-term rehabilitative settings .
