It also considers how many family doctors, specialists and doctors’ offices there are per capita and whether there is a hospital with an emergency room within an hour’s drive. Hawkesbury falls second on the list, just behind first-place Toronto. The top 10 include Cornwall, Pembroke, Thunder Bay, North Dundas, Brockville, Ottawa, Carleton Place and Kenora.

Little Ray’s Reptile House paid a visit to the Macdonell-Williamson House, in Chute-à-Blondeau, for Children’s Day at the heritage site. Funding support for the visit was courtesy of volunteers at the heritage site, who raised the money at the Delta Gaming Centre in Hawkesbury. Several members also showed their teamwork

and their fearlessness by working together to hold up one of the pythons, which are part of the Little Ray collection of unique and unusual reptiles. Pictured are Laurie McClintock (front left), Krista Tollis, Judith Henderson, Sue Tessier, Gilles Tessier, Eva Tollis, and Tyler, a Little Ray’s Reptiles volunteer, and in back are Alice Henderson (left) and Sharon Sproule. Other interesting cold-blooded visitors to Macdonell- Williamson House include a very large and slow-moving tortoise. —supplied photo
