Senior Companion Program

Senior Companions Don’t Stand Alone

PCOA’s Senior Companion volunteers are a highly trained and vetted group of volunteers 55+, providing companionship, transportation, and respite services to our community’s most isolated older adults. To make sure that services are available to those in greatest need of support, we work with seven community partners to pair Senior Companions with their clients, including the Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui nations, Jewish Family & Children’s Services, Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, the Southern AZ VA Healthcare System, St. Luke’s Home, and the Tucson Jewish Community Center. Senior Companions also serve current clients of PCOA’s family caregiving and in-home services programs. Our volunteers do not stand alone and are supported by a team of professionals who can pre-screen clients, assess their homes for safety, and support clients with additional services that fall outside the scope of the Senior Companion’s role.
