Thanks to the continued faith and trust of our patients and referring doctors, JointCare Physical Therapy isgrowing. We at JointCare are happy to introduce the newest members to our team—Caroline Schmitt and Aaron Weiner. Like all members of the JointCare Physical Therapy team, Caroline and Aaron were chosen because they exemplify the qualities that we value at JointCare. By combining excellent clinical skill with awarm bedside manner, both Caroline and Aaron have proven to be assets to the patients they work with and for JointCare as awhole.

Caroline then went on to earn a doctor of physical therapy degree from Slippery Rock University, which is where she first came in contact with JointCare. She had the opportunity to spend time in both the Florham Park and the Denville offices, and was immediately impressed by the inviting atmosphere of the clinic, the staff’s dedication to delivering the highest caliber of patient care, and the patients’ affinity for the one-on-one care provided. Upon graduation, Caroline interviewed with and received job offers from several other companies, but when the opportunity arose to join the team at JointCare, it was an easy decision. Caroline is pursuing advanced credentialing inmanual therapy. Her mission as a physical therapist is to optimize each patient’s physical therapy experience by utilizing a hands-on approach in combination with a strong bedsidemanner to develop a trusting relationship between patient and therapist. This then allows her to provide patients the tools they need to promote long-lasting changes to improve their overall quality of life.

earned a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences with a concentration in Dietetics. Since then, he has gone on to obtain the credential of DTR (Dietetics Technician Registered) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as their certificate in Adult Weight Management. Through years of wrestling, he found himself in need of physical rehabilitation and fell in love with the profession so he returned to Rutgers where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Aaron began his career as a physical therapist with the Veteran’s Administration. It was here that he felt a strong connection to the community and personal desire to give back, being that many of his family members are veterans themselves or currently serving active duty. Not only was he given the opportunity to help veterans but he was fortunate enough to be able to see patients through the entire episode of care, from immediately after surgery until discharge fromoutpatient care. This is an experience that he truly values and feels has made him a more versatile therapist. Aaron’s first encounter with JointCare was with the Florham Park office where he was impressed with the warm, positive environment and personalized care they provided. However, it was the commitment to clinical excellence and attention to detail that won him over and as soon as an opportunity became available, he made it clear that he was on board. Aaron is dedicated to a well-rounded health care approach, he is currently pursuing amanual physical therapy certification and working towards creating a nutrition program that can be offered to JointCare patients.

Caroline Schmitt Born and raised in Parsippany, NJ, Caroline was driven to a career in the healthcare industry. It would allow her to combine her interest for learning about the mechanics of the human body and her passion for working with people and giving back to the local community. Caroline earned a B.S. in exercise science at Grove City College, where she had the opportunity to work alongside the head athletic trainer during football season. She gained a greater appreciation for the entire rehabilitation process here, as she assisted in providing care for athletes at the time of an injury on the field, all the way to the athletes’ return to play, days, weeks, or even months later. Caroline’s interest in orthopedics peaked during this time through the countless conversations she had with injured athletes on the sidelines about the highs and lows of their journeys through rehab.

Aaron Weiner Aaron began his healthcare journey in high school. As a wrestler, he was fascinated by the mechanics of movement as well as combing healthy diet and exercise to create positive changes within himself and his fellow athletes. What led him to study nutrition in college was the importance of healthy eating and the temptation to diet the “wrong way”. At Rutgers University, Aaron

Don’t Suffer With LEG PAIN Do you suffer from leg pain in the knee, hip or ankle? You are not alone, the Center for Disease Control studies show that 30% of adults have reported some form of stiffness or pain in the leg in a 30 day period. The hip and knee joints are incrediblemarvels of the human body. At times they have to withstand up to 6 times your body weight in force. The hip joint is the second most complicated joint in the body and has to move in many directions including forward, backward, side to side and rotation. These different movements are called accessory motions and are needed for normal walking, running and bending. When you experience pain in the hip, thigh or knee, youmay have difficulty with these accessory motions. Prolonged sitting, injuries, arthritis and disease can cause tissues around the hip and knee joints to tighten, leading to gradual loss of motion. When Your Motion is Lost When you lose the movement of the hip or knee joints, your muscles have to take on additional strain. This leads to common aches and pains experienced by millions of people. While many people feel that medication will help solve their pain, it does not address the root cause of the problem. Most pain in the leg comes from poor flexibility, strength or coordination. Treating Leg Pain Natural Solutions To Overcome Your Leg Pain

To determine the source of your leg pain, our physical therapists examine your walking, squatting and joint movement, comparing the strength and mobility of the joints. 2. Don’t think that more expensive equals better. Brands of running shoes vary greatly in price. Do your research. 3. Buy from a running store. Try on many brands and compare shoes that fit your gait. 4. Buy a shoe that you actually like. It doesn’t hurt to buy something you feel great wearing!

Does Arthritis Pain Grind You Down? Discover The Key Treatments To Reduce Joint Pain and Stiffness

Relieving Joint Pain Exercising is important to help reduce joint pain and stiffness. Light tomoderate- intensity physical activity can actually prevent a decline in function, even restoring health. However, some people with arthritis may be reluctant to exercise because of joint pain after activity. You can take various steps to relieve pain, such as heat and cold therapy making it easier for you to exercise and stay active. In addition to physical therapy, choose non–impact exercises such as bicycling, swimming or water exercise. Furthermore, research shows that even modest weight loss combined with exercise is more effective in decreasing pain and restoring function than either weight loss or exercise alone. If you are suffering with arthritis pain, call us today and discover how we can relieve your pain, returning you to a more active, pain-free lifestyle!

Millions of Americans suffer through arthritis pain every day, taking Ibuprofen and stronger medication to numb the pain and address the ongoing inflammation. The definition of arthritis is joint inflammation, however the term has acquired a wider meaning. Arthritis is now used as a generic term for osteoarthritis and other conditions that affect joints. The pattern, severity and location of arthritis symptoms can vary depending on the specific form of the disease. Typically, arthritic conditions are characterized by pain and stiffness in and around one or more joints. The deterioration of cartilage can cause a grinding in the affected joints which can be very painful and debilitating. The symptoms can develop gradually or suddenly. Certain rheumatic conditions can also involve the immune system and various internal organs of the body. Physical therapy is an important part of the ongoing treatment for arthritis. At JointCare our therapists find the root cause of your pain and put you on the track to feeling better. We work with you one on one to ensure your recovery and maintain your mobility. Our physical therapy strengthens and stretches muscles surrounding affected joints, providing needed support.
