Quick Polls

Manifesto quick poll results 6 May 2015

As the political parties criss cross the country in a final bid to win votes before the big day, now seems as good a time as ever to consider the outcome of our recent polls. One thing is certain in that whoever succeeds in leading the next government, we in the Payroll Industry will be kept busy as they look to deliver on promises made within their party manifestos.

Over the past 3 weeks we have run some quick polls from areas within the 3 main parties’ manifestos.

You may have seen, and indeed responded, to our pre-election quick polls. We picked an item from the 3 main parties’ manifestoes, although only 1 or maybe 2 will be relevant depending on the outcome of the election. The results are below and the original news items can be viewed through the question links.

Do you currently have access to paid Volunteering Leave? (Conservative)

Would your business welcome Paternity and Shared Parental Leave becoming a day one right? (Liberal Democrat)

Would doubling Statutory Paternity Pay cause financial hardship for your business? (Labour)

There is a different quick poll question every week so look out for the prompts in News On Line and please take a moment to click through to our homepage (bottom, right) and contribute your views.

HMRC Helpline quick poll – and the payroll industry says yes 13 May 2015

The CIPP quick poll that has been running for the last week asked a simple question Have you brought a call to an HMRC helpline to an end before connecting to an adviser?

We gave a choice from one of four possible answers which were - Yes, No, Tempted and Every Time – space prevents us from expanding on lengthier or more descriptive possible responses.

The subject of Employer contact centres and helplines has been an issue of increasing concern to our membership and so whilst we expected a reasonable response to this poll we hadn’t expected 121 responses in the first 24 hours and an overall response rate by the end of the week of 210 responses, which broke down as follows:

Yes

91%

190

No

1% 5% 3%

3

Tempted

10

Every Time

7

I think it is fair to say that had ‘No’ been in the General Election it would have lost its deposit.

Thank you to members who contacted us directly with feedback not only of their experiences with the contact centres but also in achieving issue resolution.
