The Vankleek Hill Business & Merchant Association partnered up with several Vankleek Hill Main Street businesses for a day of shopping and activities to mark the beginning of spring, his Saturday, April 13. The Monalea Petting Zoo will be set up in the Windsor Tavern parking lot on 84 Main Street throughout the day, face painting with Jill Cosby will be happening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jade Garden and there will be live music outside near the Windsor Tavern. There will also be a Jan Amell Photography booth, a free ten-minute escape room challenge with Apex Escape Rooms, and an Easter craft and scavenger hunt at 11 a.m. with the Champlain Library. Citizens Climate Lobby, a nonpartisan grassroots organization that builds political will to effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions, will be at the Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market, which takes place at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute, 5814 Hwy. 34 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tBilingual trio band from Montreal, Jabbour, will be playing the last Home Routes concert of the season at 7 p.m. at the Arbor Gallery Cultural Centre. —supplied photo

Mayor of Hawkesbury Paula Assaly and Mayor of Champlain Township Normand Riopel both participated in the Prescott and Russell Community Services’ March for Meals initiative. During the March for Meals week that ran from March 18 to 22, the mayors received their Meals on Wheels at their respective offices. Alfred-Plantagenet Mayor Stéphane Sarrazin also took part in the initiative by ordering his own meal. In total, 11 198 meals were delivered to 206 clients throughout Prescott-Russell. —supplied photo
