King's Business - 1954-02

R ooted in our early American her itage is the Park Street Church, an example of pure colonial archi tecture. It was built in 1810 in Bos ton, Mass, on the site of the town granary where the sails for the frig ate Constitution of Revolutionary War fame were made. It got the name “Brimstone Corner” two years later when powder was stored in its crypt for use in the war of 1812. But far more important than its historical fame is its spiritual sig nificance in the New England areas. It was founded to carry on the Puri tan teaching and tradition. One of America’s first Sunday schools was organized there. Great revivals oc curred under Finney, Moody and Sankey. In 1905 Dr. A. Z. Conrad be- gain his 31-year ministry. During this time the church was remodeled and broadcasting services began. To day services are transmitted to most of New England over stations WVDA and WHDH with an annual radio budget of $13,988.
