A first video clip Hawks’ first video clip was unveiled on October 23 in Orleans. Filmed in Sarsfield, the video features a particular song; The Estate of Louis Walker . “On the second or third day I was in Nashville, Michael Douchette was there, the player of George Jones. We were in the studio and he listened to what we had done the day before. When that song came up, he said “that’s a hit if I ever heard one.” The extras that appear in the video clip are all fans of the artist. Hawks explained that it was important for him to highlight the people who have supported his career.
A local country artist will soon be launching his second album, Whiskey Highway, re- corded in Nashville. Eric Michael Hawks, a Clarence Creek native, flew to Nashville to record Whiskey Highway, featuring 12 new songs. He spent nearly a week working with talented mu- sicians who had, in the past, played with influential musicians such as George Jones and Bob Seger. «I was a little intimidated to play with great musicians, they played with legends,” said Hawks. «My producer, Dave Bechtel, said, you’re the boss, they’re here to work for you and they will not tell you what to do.» According to the singer, this second al- bum is very different from his first, featur- ing a duo. The songs blend the styles of old, traditional country with today’s genre. «I’m a very traditional guy, but I knew my album had to feature some new things, so I found the middle ground between the two. (…) I try to tell stories, so when I speak of places, these are places I visited when I was a truck driver.» Whiskey Highway was released on the market in September, but the official launch will take place onNovember 14 at the Lucien Delorme Community Centre in Wendover. Hawks, along with The Double Buck Odd Band and four other musicians, including LaurenHall, Steve Piticco, the group Solution and Fred Delorme, will perform throughout the evening. People are invited to bring canned food to be donated to local food banks. People who do donate will receive coupons to partici- pate in several draws presented by sponsors. Total Crap à Orléans L’événement Total Crap aura lieu le 6 novembre prochain, au MIFO à Orléans, dès 20 h. Pré- senté par le MIFO en marge de la 9 e édition du Festival Objectif Cinéma Desjardins, cet événement est organisé en collaboration avec Énergie 104,1 et Cassel Brewery. Total Crap est une soirée humoristique qui rend hom- mage aux désastres télévisuels et cinémato- graphiques. Le tout est présenté sous forme de montage scratch vidéo. Simon Lacroix et Pascal Pilote, initiateurs du projet, seront sur place pour présenter la programmation. Une zone VIP d’Énergie 104,1 sera installée, où l’on retrouvera des sofas pour créer une ambiance de salon. Ceux qui auront accès à cette zone se verront aussi servir de la bière Cassel Brewery, une microbrasserie franco- ontarienne dont les bières seront à l’honneur tout au long de la soirée. L’événement Total Crap a été à l’affiche dans bien des villes, dont Montréal, Québec et Sherbrooke, et ce, depuis 12 ans. Il a également été présenté à Lille, en France, où il a fait salle comble à plusieurs reprises. Au Québec, le spectacle a gagné en popularité au fil des années et aujourd’hui les salles se remplissent aussi vite que l’ événement est annoncé.
