Remembrance Day is November 11 all throughout Canada. But not every com- munity will host their Remembrance Day ceremonies on that day. Sunday, November 8, is a common choice for Remembrance Day ceremonies in some municipalities in the Prescott-Russell region, including the City of Clarence-Rockland and the Village of Casselman. In Clarence- Rockland, thememorial parade, led by Royal Canadian Legionmembers, will march from Club Powers on Giroux Street in Rockland at 1:30 p.m., down Laurier Street to the Ceno- taph at City Hall, for the official ceremony start at 2 p.m. In Casselman, the parade leaves Centre Paul-Émile Lévèsque at 9:30 a.m., marches down Rue Principale to the Cenotaph at Église Ste-Euphémie for the official ceremony at 10 a.m. In the Village of Vars near Russell Township, the Remembrance Day memo- rial is scheduled for November 8, at 2 p.m., at the Cenotaph in the heart of the village.

Rockland United Soccer Club has a real major-league fan in Peter Deevey. The Cheney resident lives near Parc Cheney and heads over there on his motorized scooter whenever the RUSC has scheduled games or teampractices there. Players and other local soccer fans always know when Deevey is around because of the big smile he shows while watching the play. He also helps out as an unofficial ball retriever, recovering balls that have gone out of bounds, as well as doing other things to help keep his favourite sport alive. With the end of the 2015 regular soccer season, the RUSC executive decided to show its appreciation to Deevey for all the years of fan support he has given to the club and the game of soccer. RUSC President Duane Rudeen (left) and club secretary JuanitaMacDonal presented Deevey with some special souvenirs of the past season, including an official RUSC coaching shirt, an RUSC 20 th anniversary shirt, a club water bottle, and a framed photo of Deevey with the winners of the 2015 RUSC Adult House League.
