&/#3&'r#3*&'4 FLOOD MAPPING MEETING The United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) will send a delegation to meet with federal Environment Minister McKenna to talk about financing aid for an in-depth floodplain mapping study along the Ottawa River. Clarence- Rockland Mayor Guy Desjardins also asked during the August 29 UCPR council meeting whether Hydro Québec also has some responsibility for maintai- ning up-to-date floodplain maps of the river. – Gregg Chamberlain CYCLING PLAN ADOPTED The United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) approved accepting a com- muter cycling plan by the engineering consultant firm, Morrison Hershfield. The plan was paid for with part of a provincial grant under the now-defunct commuter cycling assistance program. The remainder of the grant money will towards paving of right-of-way sections along two county roads to support recreational cycling by residents and tourists. —Gregg Chamberlain

Une mauvaise surprise attendait deux candidats du Quartier 4 le matin du 2 septembre dernier. « C’est un coup bas, a expliqué Marc- André Fournier, au sujet du vandalisme de plusieurs pancartes électorales situées sur le coin du chemin Caron et du boulevard Docteur Corbeil. » Les voyous auraient saccagé les affiches de M. Fournier et de M. Yvon Simoneau. &OFGGFU RVFMRVFTQIPUPT QSJTFTQBS. Simoneau, témoignent du carnage; des morceaux de bois éparpillés un peu partout et des pancartes dans la grande herbe. « C›est aberrant, sachant très bien le mon- tant d›effort et de ressources financières qui sont engagés dans l›installation de ces pancartes par tous les candidats, a souligné M. Simoneau. » Selon celui-ci, les pancartes couteraient plus de 30 $ chacune, somme que chaque candidat doit débourser de ses propres
