Afin de répondre aux besoins urgents de main-d’œuvre dans la région, le Centre de services à l’emploi de Prescott- Russell (CSEPR) a embauché Simeh Mohamed Bough comme Coordonnateur des services aux immigrants. « Ce professionnel en immigration sera responsable d’aller solliciter les immigrants et les nouveaux arrivants dans les grands centres et de les ramener dans Prescott et Russell afin d’y travailler, voire s’y établir », a précisé André Roy, Directeur général du Centre de services à l’emploi. Le nombre d’emplois à pourvoir dans la banque d’emplois du CSEPR dépasse MFTjø/PVTOBWPOTKBNBJTFVBVUBOU EFQPTUFTÆDPNCMFS BBKPVUÊ.3PZ&U malgré tous les efforts de notre équipe pour répondre à la demande des employeurs, nous n’y parvenons tout simplement pas. » Plus tôt cette année, le CSEPR a lancé une première initiative, le programme de CPVSTF3FMÍWFFNQMPJ-PCKFDUJGEFDFQSP - HSBNNFFTUEFDPOUSFSMFYPEFEFTKFVOFT en les encourageant à revenir dans la région à la suite de leurs études postsecondaires. &/#3&'r#3*&'4 STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE The United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) will develop a new five-year strategic plan following a consultation session with the Prescott-Russell Com- munity Development Corp. The 2018 counties budget already has $33,000 allocated for the project. UCPR council approved a resolution during its August 29 session authorizing administration to go ahead with development of a new five-year strategic plan for economic development projects and programs during the 2019 to 2022 period. — Gregg Chamberlain
A DOLLAR A BEER? Premier Doug Ford’s “buck a beer” chal- lenge marked its official start August 27, but just three Ontario’s breweries picked up the gauntlet and now it’s down to two after the Labour Day weekend. Loblaw’s President’s Choice, and two small inde- pendent brewers, Barley Days and Cool Beer Brewing offered their beers at a dollar a can or bottle in return for the provincial government’s offer of premium shelf space at the LCBO. But Loblaw’s has now decided to step away from the challenge. There is also just a limited number of LCBO outlets stocking the dollar-a-beer brands. Ontario’s craft brewers, including the four in Pres- cott-Russell and the major breweries, have passed on the challenge because they would lose money on every bottle or can produced. - Gregg Chamberlain
The Employment Services Centre (CSEPR) announced last week that it hired Simeh Mohamed Bouh as Immigrants Services Coordinator. As an immigration professional, he will be responsible to recruit immigrants and newcomers in large centres and bring them back to Prescott-Russell to work, and even to live here. —submitted photo
