His first assignment was at the Aircraft Intermediate Mainte- nance Department (AIMD) at Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico where he served as the Aircraft Maintenance Division Officer and Quality As- surance Officer from September 1989 through August 1991. He subsequently transferred to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136 at Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Jacksonville, Florida, and served as the Maintenance Material Control Officer and deployed aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN- 69) in support of Operation Desert Storm and later aboard USS George Washington (CVN-73).

Upon transfer, he reported to the Naval Strike Aircraft Test Squadron at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland and served as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer, and as the squadron’s Executive Officer – garner- ing the “Officer of the Year” award for NAS Patuxent River for 1996. In 1997, he laterally transferred to the Human Resources Officer community and was assigned as the Enlisted Programs Department Head at Navy Recruiting District Houston, Texas, from Nov 1997 through May 2000. Captain Dews served as the Com- manding Officer of the Oklahoma City Military Entrance Processing Station from Nov 2001 through Mar 2004. In April 2004, he transferred to the Office of the Deputy Assistant, Secretary of the Navy (Installations and Environment) and served as a Lead Analyst in sup- port of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure. Captain Dews reported to Navy Recruit- ing District Dallas in November 2005 as the Executive Officer and subsequently served as the Commanding Officer from June 2007 to January 2009. of the Year,” received both the Enlisted and Officer Recruiting "R" awards for FY-2008 and led the Navy in Special Warfare recruiting. CAPT Dews served as the Officer in Charge of the Navy’s recruiting training center, the Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit at NAS Pensacola from March 2009 through February 2012. He served as the Director of Personal and Family Readiness (OPNAV N135F) /Branch Head for Total Sailor Fitness, 21st Century Sailor Office at Naval Sup- port Activity Millington, TN from April 2012 to July 2013. Captain Dews served as the Deputy Director for Diversity for the Navy Recruiting Command from August 2013 to February 2014 and as the Director of Operations (N3) of Navy Recruiting Command from Mar 2014 to Aug 2015. Captain Dews is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Col- lege in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia and is a joint qualified officer. He earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from New Hampshire College and is certified as a Professional

Life Member Dews' personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement (three awards), and various campaign and service awards.
