83 RD GRAND CHAPTER MEETING: A SALUTE TO THE MILITARY

B rother Grand Polemarch and members of the great Kappa Alpha Psi ® noble fraternity, this is a great opportunity. On behalf of our commandant, we'd like to thank you. You know today your Marine Corps is comprised of about 182,000 marines, and about 30,000 of them are deployed in 37 countries in the world. Your Marine Corps is ready when our country is least ready. The marines that are out there leading that fight...wear the same color that we wear today, crim- son and cream. We have a long history with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, one that largely links nicely, because the things that we do and what we stand for as Kappa men the Marine Corps has the same type of characterizations, ethics and ethos that really embody who we are. We are steeped in tradition as much as our old fraternity is steeped in customs. So that link is pretty nicely woven. We will continue to sup- port this great flame. We do it because it's the right thing to do. Because we do see future leaders in our Marine Corps. We're small but powerful. And that's because of the great foundation, I believe. Our marines who wear that crimson and cream give that foundation of being part of a great fraternity.

Again, thank you for this relationship. I look forward to continuing to extend it in the years to come. Semper Fidelis.
