KAPPA NEWS: BYRON K. ARMSTRONG AWARDEE—SHYHEME T. MCELROY

B rother Shyheme T. McElroy is a 2016 initiate of the Gamma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® on the campus of the University of Iowa. He has recently graduated for the University of Iowa with a degree in Interdepartmental Studies in order to study both the health sciences and business. He also served as the Black Student Union President, a volunteer for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, a laboratory assistant, and a member of the pre-dental society. Outside of his work to the university, Shyheme has served on the National Alumni Advisory Board for the Summer Medical Dental Education Program. Furthermore, he has shown a dedication to Kappa Alpha Psi ® by serving on the undergraduate board for the North Central Province. Shyheme has recently been accepted into multiple dental schools including Tufts, The University of Iowa, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He will be attending the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in the summer of 2017.

He is a student of achieve- ment, a leader among men, and a vanguard of excellence. We salute Byron K. Armstrong Award recipient and Guy L. Grant Award recipient Shyheme T. McElroy. B rothers it is with great honor that I accept both the Byron Kenneth Armstrong and Guy Levis Grant Award. With this being said, I want to thank the achievement committee for taking the time to review my application for these prestigious awards. I am very aware that there are many deserving brothers that hold true to the criteria of these awards, and I am humbled to have been chosen to receive both.
