KAPPA NEWS: GUY L. GRANT AWARDEE—DENZEL B. WASHINGTON

B rother Denzel B. Washington is a spring 2017 initi- ate of the Nu Rho Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi on the campus of the Vanderbilt University. He recent- ly graduated from Vanderbilt University, receiving his Bachelors in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a minor in Engineering Management. After his initiation, Brother Washington would go on to serve as social commit- tee chair and Polemarch while serving at the province level on the Board of Directors for the South Central Province. Brother Washington has also maintained many key leader- ship positions with on-campus organizations such as Nation- al Association of Black Engineers (NSBE) where he served as Torch Chairman and Historian, the American Association of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Black Student Alliance, and the Vanderbilt Investment Club. Brother Washington is a servant for Kappa, having partici- pated in many of its programs including LEAD Kappa during the 82 nd Grand Chapter Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana – his hometown. His fraternal involvement at the chapter and province level afforded him the opportunity to serve at a national level where he is the Grand Lt. Strategus for the

33 rd Administration of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. For his hard work in Kappa, he was recognized on the campus of Vanderbilt University with Vanderbilt’s Greek Leaders Award. Brother Washington has accepted a position with the man- agement consulting firm, Accenture in Charlotte, North Carolina as he begins his career. It is evident that Brother Washington’s young life epito- mizes achievement and that he sees obstacles as opportuni- ties to achieve in spite of not because of. We are thankful to Brian and Jacqueline Washington, Denzel’s parents, for God’s most precious gift to you has been a blessing to the Noble Clan of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . Let it be known that our brother exhibits the five objec- tives of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and that his diamond embodies the characteristics of Founder Grant. He is a student of achievement, a leader among men, and a vanguard of excel- lence. We salute Guy L. Grant Award recipient Denzel B. Washington.
