How sweet and clean she looks! Best of all, she is letting her light shine for Christ. Money, pride, envy, and other things that dim the light—all are kept out of her life. How glad she will be when she hears Christ say, “Well done”!

T he P ollution of the K ingdom (Micah 2:9-11) ‘N THIS passage, Micah expresses lament over the fact that there were false prophets among the people — prophets who uttered false­ hoods for their own personal gain, and who also denounced others who would speak the truth to the people. Be­ cause of these false ones, the place of the Lord had become polluted; it was no longer a place of rest but had become a place of destruction. Furthermore, the people had been led so far astray that they would listen only to the prophets who spoke of the delights of intemperance. Hence, the call was to leave the p l a c e whose sacredness had become as a polluted thing. The false pro­ phets had destroyed its sanctity, and the message now heard therein would only lead the people further away from God and nearer to their receiving His judgments upon their sinfulness. The same conditions obtain today in many places. Where the Word of God should he heard, there is only a forum for man’s reasonings which lead away from God and expose the listeners to destruction. n. T he S igns of the K ingdom (Lk. 21:29-31, 34-36) The fig tree is a type of the remnant among the people of Israel: In the nat­ ural realm, the budding of that tree would speak of the near approach of sunlmer. Likewise, when the remnant among Israel shows signs of renewal of life, we can know that the “king­ dom” is at hand. The exhortation is
