O Thou who art the source of beauty, let Thy beauty overshadow my soul. Let Thy beauty be upon me as an out ermost robe. . . Help me to come into unharmed contact with that which would dim the impure heart. Help me to take by the hand the lepers, the demoniacs, the outcasts of the world. Help me to give Thy beauty to those that sit in ashes, Thy joy to those that are in mourning, Thy gar ment of praise to those that have the spirit of heaviness.—George Matheson. “And, behold, two of .them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about three score furlongs. . . And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and . . . said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe” (Lk. 24:13, 15, 25). It is regrettable that the translators used such a flinty term as “fools’* to translate Jesus’ affectionate anoetoi. Christ had no contempt for them. The best way to say what He said is. “My poor unthinking friends.” His anoetoi caressed their wounded spirits like a mother’s hand. Let Jesus speak to thee His tender anoetoi, if you are slow.of heart. Remember! you are a child of God! If you feel like “a Syrian ready to perish,” take a Seven Mile Walk with Jesus—and you’ll come back with a burning heart.* :—Richard Ellsworth Day. * (Reprinted by special permission of Zondervan Pub. House, Grand Rapids, M ich.) A Downtown Hotel’s Policy Many years of serving the traveling public have enabled Mrs. R. A. Green, proprietor of the Southland Hotel, 605 S. Flower St., Los Angeles, Calif., to understand the' wishes of' Christian travelers. She, with the late Mr. Green, operated the Woman’s Hotel on Grand Avenue for sixteen years before under taking the work of the Southland f^>tel. TWENTIETH DAY A Walk with Him

tively interested in its program $s well as that of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. Her purpose in her work is to cater to persons who desire a quiet place at which to stay while in Los Angeles, together with convenience and a degree of comfort. Making every effort to keep the atmosphere of the hotel at once hospitable and Christian, she feels that she can confidently state that parents with children will find at the Southland a safe environment, as also will women and girls traveling alone. Further information about the hotel appears in the advertisement on page 365.
