A BUCKET LIST TRIP

AsformyfamilyandI,wehaveatripplannedforthe first week of June that is particularly special tome. I became an avid golfer in college, but neither ofmy sonswere interested in it when theywere younger. Between you and me, I think they thought it was too easy. It wasn’t until they got to college that they began to take a liking to the sport. We have been golfingtogetherforseveralyearsnow, and itmakes me so happy to spend time with them and play, laugh and love. It has always been a dreamofmine to go to Scotland, the birthplace of golf, and play withmyboys.AsIgetolder, andmysonsgetbusier I’ve realized time is finite. There may always be something in our lives that seemsmore important. We can always be too busy or otherwise occupied with other matters, but I knew if I didn’t take the opportunity now to make this trip, I likely never would. I felt like, if not now, when? Now will never live in the future. So, I used up all my flying points, hotel points and every other point andbooked a trip to Scotland! This has been a bucket list dream for me, and I amso grateful it’s becoming a reality. My wife, two sons, and I will have a week in Scotland that I knowwe will never forget. I truly believe that there is nothing more important than spending time with family, and I’mhappy to be able to share this memory with them. Take the time to make a

memory with your family this summer, too. The summer season is officially upon us – and with that, comes lots of action at Fyzical El Paso! What’s going on in our clinic: At Fyzical, we keep moving, especially intermsofcontinuingeducation. Our physical therapist Kate Roby is officially certified in Women’s Health Issues/Pelvic Floor Disorders, and we are so excited to see where this new expertise and certification takes her! This is an important new advancement for us because Kate is addressing a significant need that many PT clinics will overlook. The outcome has been overwhelminglypositivesofar, andshehasalready treated several new patients! Great job Katie and for our patients, if you need help, we’re ready. We also have multiple new clinicians who have been trained inadvancedcareforbalancedisorders:Roy, Adam, Justin, and Juan recently completed their Level3balancetrainingconference.RoyandJustin have passed their certification examination and Roy received his “pin” designating the high level of achievement inNewOrleans thisweekend. Having achieved the highest level of training, our team is fully prepared to care for patients experiencing any level of dizziness or balance disorders. It’s a difficult training process and I’m super proud of them. (continued inside)

ARTHRITIS &PHYSICAL THERAPY

Regardless of the cause of arthritis, physical therapy plays a major role in the treatment of arthritis symptoms and should be tried first, before more aggressive procedures such as surgery. While maintaining a healthy weight, exercise and a good diet help, surgical intervention may eventually be needed. However, physical therapy has been shown to be an excellent way to prepare and recover after a total knee or hip replacement. It is very common for the muscles that support the knee, hip, and low back to become weakened from inactivity.Through targeted easy to do exercises, we help your muscles regain their strength, providing greater support to the joints, and reducing inflammation. Furthermore, by improving balance and coordination, especially to the knee and hip joints, the abnormal strain on the joints is relieved, and safety is improved to reduce risk of further injury. If you or a loved one suffers from arthritis, you have options. The first step is to contact one of our therapists today, and ask about ongoing physical therapy treatment to restore mobility, comfort and quality of life. See how we can help your joints feel better and move better! Go online or call us to schedule an appointment today.
