OUR NEW TOOL PUTS THE ‘FUN’ BACK IN FUNDRAISING RAISING MONEY FOR A CAUSE? WE CAN HELP!

Here at Lynnpro, my team and I print apparel and other products for great people all over the country. Sometimes the stuff we make is used for employee incentives, client gifts, weddings, political campaigns, golf tournaments, or trade shows, but often, it’s the bread and butter of fundraisers like themed charity 5Ks and school Halloween parties. Over the years, we’ve printed thousands and thousands of products for worthy causes, and I’m proud of that legacy. That said, these last few months have been tough on the organizations we work with. Schools, conservation groups, disaster relief groups, homeless shelters (see Page 2 for more on that), pet sanctuaries, women’s and children’s charities — you name it, they’re all having a heck of a time raising funds during the pandemic. I’ve hated watching our clients struggle like that, particularly when I know they’re good people who only want to help others. But I also get that a baseball cap with a school logo on it is a hard sell when money is tight. That’s why this summer, I came up with a brand- new tool to make fundraising easier, cheaper, more relevant, and more fun for everyone involved. In June, my team and I launched a website called LynnproFundraising.com. It’s stocked up with more than 75 customizable products, including mugs, plaques, beach towels, keychains, earrings, coasters, and, of course, apparel like T-shirts and hats that you can sell to raise money for your cause. There are a couple of things that make this model different from just ordering off of our website.

You can get a customized URL for your organization (e.g., LynnproFundraising.com/ ClintonHighSchool) that turns our shop into your shop. After that, simply share a link with your supporters through email, text, or social media, and they can hop online to order. Your donors can support you AND get a product customized to their needs. They won’t be required to buy a product with your slogan on it. Instead, they’ll have extra options that might be more attractive to them. When they enter your site, they can choose from pre-designed products with your logo, products personalized with a photo of their choice, or fully customized products in any color or style they like. No matter which option they choose, they’ll be supporting your cause! This will make your shop more attractive to donors, who can use it to create meaningful gifts and souvenirs that can be shipped anywhere in the country. A cute mug with their grandson’s face on it will probably be a much easier sell than a T-shirt with a company logo! Perhaps best of all, you won’t have to do any money collection, product ordering, or distribution. We’ll process and print each order, then mail it out and pass on the profits to you. This will free you and your team up to do more important work!

This model has already been a big hit with our clients. The products really deliver a wow factor to donors, and the whole process couldn’t be easier. It’s quick, too — after you reach out to us, we can have your online store live within 24 hours. Because we know times are hard, we’re also doing everything we can to keep costs down for you. There’s no fee to set up your customized website, and we won’t ever send you a bill if your site isn’t profitable. While we do reserve the right to hold $100 out of your profits if you sell less than $1,000, beyond $1,000, there’s no deduction from your commission. On top of that, our products have a high profit margin, so you can easily make thousands for your cause. If you sign up for the service, we’ll do a full onboarding with you to explain how to leverage your shop and set yourself up for success. I wouldn’t be surprised if you cleared $10,000 with the right marketing! I’m excited about this opportunity because it’s a win-win-win for you, your supporters, and my team. THE FIRSTMRI SCANOF AHUMAN

A sports injury is severely damaging because it can potentially end the athlete’s career or alter their quality of life. Injured players hope to get a diagnosis and treatment from the medical professionals around them and get back in the game as soon as possible. MRI technology is an essential part of that process. An MRI scan is used to produce an accurate diagnosis of the player’s injury, but that’s not all. It can also assist doctors in estimating recovery time and determining if the player will need surgery. With so much depending on the MRI scan, it’s no wonder that fans, coaches, teammates, and injured players themselves wait anxiously for the results. Though it’s now standard practice to use MRI scans to help diagnose sports injuries, the MRI device itself is less than 50 years old. On July 3, 1977, the first recorded MRI scan of a human body was performed by Dr. Raymond Damadian. Although it took five hours to produce that first image of the patient, the machine successfully scanned his chest and revealed his lungs and heart. Damadian named the machine Indomitable, an homage to his team’s struggle in developing the technology that allowed the device to succeed. Thanks to Damadian’s determination and the brilliant people on his team, today’s medical professionals can use MRI machines to scan broken bones, detect cancerous cells, take full photos of the brain, and reveal blood clots. MRI scans are useful for athletes and nonathletes alike. The results inform a diagnostic plan that will help them get back to playing the sport they love, whether it be their career or a hobby.

Whether it’s football, hockey, rugby, or any other contact sport, when a player goes down, fans immediately want to know why. An injury could mean a player is out for the season, which could also cause the entire team to falter. Concerned fans will wait for hours to hear the player’s prognosis.

THE DOWNTOWN RESCUE MISSION AND BUCCANEER YACHT CLUB

The GLOW Run takes place at night. Last year, it drew 1,000 glowstick- adorned runners. Carts4Hearts is a morning race that Tonia calls “an urban Iditarod.” On race day, teams of six people become sled dogs and decorated shopping carts become sleighs. “They raise money, food, and clothing donations for the mission, drop those off at the checkpoint, and then run without anything in their cart,” Tonia says. “It’s a lot of fun, and a little outside the box!” Both runs have been postponed due to COVID-19, but the Downtown Rescue Mission is still taking donations at DowntownRescueMission.org. In the meantime, we’ve still been working with Tonia to provide T-shirts for another group she’s a part of: Buccaneer Yacht Club. “The yacht club is very different because we actually have a fine artist that does a painting we have to send in for the T-shirts,” Tonia says. “The graphics on that are a little more complicated, but again, Lynnpro handles it like a champ! We’ve never had any issues.”

the elements or packed together in shelters, homeless people are at high risk of catching the virus. That susceptibility makes nonprofits like our client the Downtown Rescue Mission more vital than ever. “This is our 45th year serving the homeless community in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee,” says Tonia Camardella, the mission’s director of events and business partnerships. “We serve on average 300 men, women, and children per night.” The faith-based Downtown Rescue Mission offers essentials, emergency services, transitional assistance, and recovery programs. To raise funds, it hosts two big races each year in Huntsville, Alabama: the GLOW Run 5K and Carts4Hearts. Lynnpro has provided T-shirts and other promotional products for both races for three years. “We have to be very fiscally responsible, so every year I have to get quotes from three different T-shirt companies and go with the best price. Lynnpro has always been the best price! They’ve always been very quick to get our items to us, and we’ve never had a problem getting everything we need on time, even little extra goodies like a cutting board with our logo on it and the stickers I put on my car,” Tonia says.

Tonia, thank you for spreading the word about Lynnpro! We love working with you and are looking forward to years of partnerships to come.

THE ‘EUREKA!’ MOMENT BEHIND YOUR SHIRT HOW COMPLEX DESIGNS COME TOGETHER Every batch of T-shirts we print is unique. Customers can submit their own designs or work with our in-house team of artists to come up with the perfect image for their company or event. Then, our production team takes those designs and translates them onto fabric. But have you ever wondered how your image gets from point A (the drawing room) to point B (the T-shirt)? Jenn Charlson has a firsthand view of that process. She’s the one who checks designs in our digital room, then handles scraping, washing, and burning the screens that transfer prints onto our shirts. Usually, this process is pretty straightforward, and it’s easy for Jenn to see how a design she checks on the computer will look once it’s printed. But that isn’t always the case! Every so often, something we call a “T-sep” design comes down the line.

“For example, if you have a car and the headlights are yellow, I’m only going to see two little circles, probably,” Jenn explains. “With a T-sep, there are a lot of half-tones that all appear like dots, and together, the dots make up a colorful picture.”

Jenn loves watching those dots merge into an image on the production floor. These shirts are even more special because they’re relatively rare.

“T-sep designs are really good for detailed images that you want to put on a shirt, like cars,” Jenn explains. “We’ve also done a picture of a dog — a pit bull — and that used eight colors!” Are you curious about whether a shirt you’ve had printed is a T-sep? Do you have a complex design in mind for Jenn to tackle? Next time you call to place an order, don’t be afraid to ask! We’re always happy to walk you through the process, “Eureka!” moment and all.

“The T-sep program is for shirts that have lots of colors, and those are my favorites,” Jenn says.

Those designs have a special “Eureka!” moment. That’s because every tone and half-tone represented in a complex shirt gets its own screen specifically for that color. For Jenn, this means that when she looks at the computer screen, she’s only seeing one piece of the design at a time, and the final shirt is a mystery.

Raising Money for a Cause? We Can Help! How the MRI Scan Changed Sports Medicine Customer Spotlight: Helping the Homeless The ‘Eureka!’ Moment Behind Your Shirt Good Morning Breakfast Kebabs National Ice Cream Day Prompts Homemade Creations

Whether you’re a fan of mint chocolate chip or just plain vanilla, nothing cools you down on a hot summer day quite like ice cream. It’s only fitting then that National Ice Cream Day lands on July 19 — right in the middle of the hottest month in the U.S. Ice cream’s history stretches as far back as 500 B.C. when Middle Eastern royalty combined sweet flavors with ice for a cool treat. Ice cream made its way to North America in the 1700s, and it remained a dessert for the wealthy and famous for years. George Washington even spent $200 on ice cream throughout the summer of 1790. (That would be $5,611.20 in today’s dollars!) Thankfully, these days you don’t have to be rich to enjoy ice cream. In fact, you can even save money by making it yourself! Celebrate National Ice Cream Day by creating this everyday treat using these tips. MAKE IT HOW YOU WANT IT. You can flavor your ice cream however you’d like, but there are a few basic ingredients that are necessary for most batches: milk, sugar, gelatin, and eggs.

Dairy-based products like milk are the most common foundation for ice cream. Sugar adds the sweet, scrumptious flavor we all love, and gelatin aids in thickening the mixture. The eggs happen to be one of the most important ingredients because they give ice cream its classic texture while reducing the rate at which it melts. This ensures your ice cream remains in near “mint” condition as you enjoy it. Healthy Alternatives: Use bananas or almond milk for dairy-free ice cream. For vegan ice cream, use agar powder instead of gelatin and eggs. For those looking to avoid sugar, honey is a naturally sweet substitute. GET TO WORK! You’ll need to heat your ingredients on the stove prior to churning and cooling your ice cream. An ice-cream churner is the easiest way to create a perfectly smooth texture, but if you’re looking for an activity to wear out the kids, then have them shake their own ice cream! Simply place all your ingredients in a small baggie, close it up, and place that baggie in a larger one with ice cubes. Shake firmly for at least 15 minutes for homemade creamy goodness.

BY MAKING YOUR OWN SWEET TREAT! CELEBRATE NATIONAL ICE CREAMDAY
