far, and He healed them of th e ir sick ness and made them well again. A round Him on th e hillside were gath ered hundreds and hund red s of people and w hat a happy day it was, for the sick ones had been made well, and He had told them such b eau tifu l and com fo rting things th a t they forgot every th ing else as they listened to Him, bu t you know it was a day ju s t like our days, it had to come to a close; as the sun was sinking behind th e hills, it would soon be dark, and these people were far from home, w ithou t anything to eat, and in th is qu iet country across th e lake from th e cities, th e re was no place where food could be bought, and th e disciples said th e people ought to go home, b u t Jesu s said He would feed them . Jesus knew how far the people had come, and He knew they would be too weak to w alk th e long distance home w ithout something to eat. The disciples wondered how Jesus was going to feed such a crowd of people, for th e only food they had was the lunch of a little boy who was in th e crowd, and th a t was only five crackers and two small fish. Jesus told th e disciples to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass, and when all the
people were seated and quiet, Jesu s took th e five crackers and two fishes, and He did something very wonderful. He sent a message to some one, and th ere were no telephone w ires to the place where th e message was sent. Perhaps some of you know to whom Jesus sent th is message? Yes, to God, H is Heavenly F ath e r. Now, boys and girls it m ust have been a very im port a n t message, when Jesu s knew how hungry and tired these people were, to stop and send th is message to God His Heavenly F ath e r. Helen h as raised her hand and says she knows w hat th is im po rtan t message was, which Jesus sen t to H is F a th e r in Heaven, so le t us be very quiet and h ear for we never w ant to forget th is message. The mes sage was Jesu s saying “ th a n k you” to His Heavenly F a th e r for th e food. I wonder how many of us offer up a little prayer before we eat, th ank ing God for th e food we have to ea t a t each meal? We know when Jesus would no t ea t un til He had given thank s, it was a very im po rtan t lesson for us to remember, and now if we have been fo rg etting to say “th a n k you” to Jesus for our food, le t us begin today.
