Multi-phased renovations and additions enhance the out - dated 1899 former school building that the YMCA acquired in the 1950’s. The facility was operational throughout the entire project which created a state-of-the-art fitness cen - ter; numerous multipurpose rooms for the community and classes including a teaching kitchen; and specialized studios for yoga and cycling. There is a new adminis - tration suite and a new childcare center which allows the Preschool program to increase enrollment by 30%. The additions and renovations blend into the existing struc - ture, improving overall functions. Energetic and fun interi - ors were designed by utilizing the YMCA’s branding color pallet, creating a new dynamic member experience.

Size: 46 acres| 23,000 SF Restaurant, 6,000 SF Outdoor Seating, 300,000 SF Retail And Mixed Used Type of Project: Retail redevelopment/Mixed-Use Location: Newark, DE The opportunity to recreate and revitalize the declining College Square shopping center to a new community-cen - tric destination, while using only an existing impervious site and providing 1000 new trees and a family location is what makes this project our favorite of 2021.
DMR Architects designed the new school to provide 24 traditional classrooms with dedicated spaces for enhanced art and music education, a think tank, and a STEM lab to support the municipality’s 21st Century ed - ucational practices and enhance the learning experience for all its students.
