bowling alley, a casino, and a bunch of indoor and outdoor theaters on board. The second we pulled into the port, I was shocked at the size of the ship. Once we got on and started walking around, and even throughout the rest of the cruise, I had to keep reminding myself that I was on a boat! We were on the Norwegian Pearl of the Norwegian Cruise Line, and Kesha (my favorite singer/person in the WORLD) was hosting the whole cruise! She performed two exclusive shows during the cruise, and there were also a couple of other artists and DJ’s who performed, as well.

We have had a great start to the spring season here at Atlas PT! Sydney seems to have one of the most exciting stories to tell this month. She kicked it off by going on what she says was the best vacation she’s ever been on! – “I went on my first cruise ever! My sister Shelby, my girlfriend Morgan, and I all went on Kesha’s Weird & Wonderful Rainbow Ride from February 17-21, from Tampa, FL to Nassau, Bahamas. It was the best experience and seeing everything they squeezed into that one ship was so cool! There were tons of bars and restaurants, a night club, an arcade, a

WHAT’S GOING ON AROUND ATLAS PT? Kesha performed the first night (and of course there was a glitter station for everyone to get covered in glitter), then the next day there was a Spin Class with Betty Who (another artist), performances from a few DJ’s and a Belly Flop Competition! That night there was also an awesome event called Lip Sync For Your Lifeboat, which was a lip syncing competition hosted by Kesha and a few other artists. Unfortunately, I experienced sea sickness for the first time that night, so I missed the event and had to listen to how much fun it was the next day from my sister. Luckily, we had arrived in Nassau the next morning so not only did I get to go onto land for a little while, but we were finally in the Bahamas! It was so gorgeous there and the locals were really nice. We tried Conch pizza, had drinks inside of coconuts, walked all around Downtown, and enjoyed the beach with its crystal clear water! Being from the Chesapeake area, it was SO nice to see water that wasn’t green and brown! (continued from outside)

We stayed in the Bahamas until around 4 PM, and then we had to get back on board. Kesha played another show that night, which may have been the best show of hers I have ever been to – and I’ve been to 11 now! Afterwards, we went to karaoke in one of the theaters on board. That was by far my favorite day of the cruise!  This was definitely the best vacation I’ve been on. I’m so happy we all got to go together and experience all of that – now I’m just waiting for the next one!” We can all say we were a bit jealous of all the fun Sydney had – what a great time! In other exciting news, Dr. Sam also moved, which is something he had been wanting to do for a while! – “After a year of commuting over the Key Bridge and dealing with 695 traffic, I decided it was time to move a little closer to work. We did about four months of searching and found a single-family

home in Harundale. Moving is painful but less painful with help – my girlfriend’s family drove down from Philadelphia for the day and our Atlas Family member, Jake Sanner, also helped us out. We are still putting the finishing touches on the place and getting settled in, but overall we are very happy. The new house has a small yard and I’m looking forward to starting my own garden for the first time. I am still becoming familiar with Glen Burnie/Pasadena area, so if anyone has any good restaurant recommendations or fun activities close by, please feel free to share!” We are so excited for Dr. Sam and his big move! As for life with the Sanners, it has continued on its busy pace. We have exciting news, as well – TJ and I signed the papers for our first home purchase! The night we signed, we sat inside of our new home in camping chairs with our parents, Jake, and Rachel, while the girls danced through and played hide-and-seek in all

the empty rooms. We have a few projects to do before moving in this Spring, but we’re ready for this new adventure! We have some highlights to share for the rest of our team, as well: Megan’s daughter Gretchen is tying the knot in April, and Megan’s sister recently hosted a bridal shower for her! Dr. Bekah had a dare-devilish excursion – she went skydiving for the first time! The arena was an indoor version, and she had a blast there. Dr. Sam is also looking into skydiving – so in addition to tips on the best local eats, please also share your tips on the best place to jump out of an aeroplane! - Dr. Laura Sanner, Founder of Atlas PT

my second visit, the chest pain hit after describing the pain and location to Sam, and he was able to help relieve the pain and mimic it by pressing a spot on my neck! Years of dealing with what I thought was from my heart, and now, finally having answers and ways to ease the pain in seconds! That itself has changed my life, literally! Lauren was my “dizzy doctor” (as I referred to her with my family) and was amazing and very patient with me and my dizzy spells. With many different (simple) exercises, I was able to gain my balance back. Doctors determined my dizziness came from my neck, and between Sam and Lauren both treating these problems, I feel (at minimum) 75% better. My headaches were debilitating and lasted about 3 weeks to a month, they are down to a week or less and most times less severe! I was completely unable to drive when I started, and many everyday tasks I had trouble doing (showering, driving, walking in a grocery store!). I’m so happy to say I can do all these things again! I truly cannot put into words how thankful I am for the two of them, actually, for Atlas itself! They are amazing, and I couldn’t recommend them enough! Thank you! P.S. I love my theracane! :)” - Shannon 2 3 5 Name: 1 4

Attention Shoulder Pain Sufferers… Want the #1 Single Best At-Home Test to See If You Have a Rotator Cuff Problem? Do You Have Trouble Reaching Back Into the Back Seat in the Car? Does Your Shoulder Bother You When You Sleep on That Side at Night? Do You Have Problems Reaching? Up on to a Shelf? Or Behind Your Back When You’re Getting Dressed? If so, then here’s a quick and easy to test to find out what may be causing your shoulder problem…

Shoulder problems are common… At any age.

But specifically between the ages of 35 and 55 years old… There’s a problem that commonly occurs in the shoulder. The big, fancy Physical Therapy name for it is: Shoulder Impingement. Shoulder Impingement looks like this:

…And what happens is this. See the bone sticking out called the “acromion”? (By the way…that’s a view of the right shoulder…from the front…and the acromion is part of the shoulder blade). Well under the acromion is a small space…

And in that space is one of your rotator cuff muscles (the supraspinatus). (Don’t worry…I won’t ask you to repeat any of the names!) Well, what happens is as we become “more seasoned” in life…and have more birthday candles on our

birthday cake…that space can close down. In the beginning it can cause inflammation…

And lead to “bursitis”, “tendinitis” and “arthritis”… And eventually begin to cause fraying of the tendon… And then a partial tear… Or even worse, if left untreated, can cause a full rotator cuff tear. Luckily, if you have shoulder pain and early signs of problems…there are steps you can take today to stop that from happening… But first we want to see if this is really what you have going on.

So here’s what to do. 1. With the painful arm, reach behind your back and up between your shoulder blades as far as you can. Note if you have any pain, tightness or achiness. 2. Then with the non-painful arm, do the same thing. If there’s a difference from side to side…then there’s a really good chance you have at least the beginning signs of “Shoulder Impingement.” That’s the #1 Single Best At-Home Test I can give you to see if you’re having trouble with your rotator cuff. If you’re looking for answers and looking to get back to normal again… then send me an email at drlaura@iwantpt.com In the subject line write “Shoulder Pain Help”…and in the email tell me what you do day to day that gives you the most trouble with your shoulder… Hope this helps, Laura
