DFMEA OVERVIEW AND APPLICATION Certifications :

• American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer • ASME Certified Senior GD&T Professional

During this DFMEA Overview and Application course, participants will be introduced to important FMEA concepts, the basic theory behind the concepts, then discuss how these concepts can be applied to the customer’s design FMEA activities. Participant activities include: reading assignments, group discussions, exercises, building Block Diagrams as a group, and beginning a DFMEA on a customer’s product. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to: • Explain basic reliability concepts as related to the application of the DFMEA • Explain the philosophy behind the FMEA process as related to the prevention of product/service failures • Build and/or play a role on a cross functional team to complete the DFMEA • Identify the collection of information necessary for the completion of the DFMEA • Build and use a Block Diagram to guide the DFMEA analysis • Correctly play an effective role in conducting the DFMEA • Explain the difference between the DFMEA and the PFMEA • Analyze DFMEA results and follow up properly with appropriate Design Controls or other corrective actions WHO SHOULD ATTEND DFMEA Overview and Application Program will provide training to a manufacturer’s engineering, development, operations, quality and administrative personnel. These individuals are typically involved in the development and production of parts for direct use in the manufacture of automobiles. CONTENT HIGHLIGHTS • Introductions • Understand basic reliability concepts to set the stage for the completion of the DFMEA • Comprehend the need for the DFMEA • Identify basic requirements for effective completion of the DFMEA • Complete a Block Diagram and use it to assure thorough analysis of the design under review • Begin a DFMEA and interpret the results • Use Fault Tree Analysis to determine root cause and “real” failure mode
