Eine wachsende Anerkennung des theoretischen Pluralismus und der Verwirrung in Bezug auf den Konflikt haben sich für das psychoanalytische Denken und die analytische Praxis als heilsam erwiesen. Die modernen Neurowissenschaften bestätigen, dass unsere geistig-psychische Aktivität vorwiegend unbewusst und das Seelenleben voller Konflikte ist. Trotz düsterer Vorhersagen verfügt die Psychoanalyse weiterhin über das gründlichste Verständnis der menschlichen Psyche und der ihr inhärenten (explizit oder implizit anerkannten, zentralen oder randständigen) Konflikte.
