On the margins of ITU-GSR 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye, the CTO partnered with Viasat to convene a high-level Commonwealth Partnership Breakfast Meeting under the theme “National Sovereignty & Space Resources.” The meeting brought together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, international organisations, and development stakeholders to discuss the evolving role of space-based communications and strategic partnerships in national digital development agendas. Discussions focused on resilience, cybersecurity, satellite connectivity, digital sovereignty, and the growing importance of partnerships in expanding meaningful connectivity and reducing digital divides. The session also highlighted the CTO’s commitment to implementation-driven collaboration and its role in facilitating practical partnerships that support sustainable digital transformation across Commonwealth countries.
