Important information about tax bills
6

Real Estate and Personal Property Tax bills are collected in two (2) installments with the first installment due June 30 and the second installment due December 5. Bills are typically mailed 4-5 weeks before the due date. If you would prefer to view your bills electronically rather than receiving paper copies, please visit https://gloucester.estmt.net (you will need your most recent tax bill).
6

Always check your bills for completeness upon receipt. If you have multiple parcels or accounts with exactly the same name and address, they may be mailed in the same envelope. If you haven’t received your bills by 2 weeks before the due date, please reach out to the Treasurer’s Office so that we can get you the information you need to pay on time.
6

Payments must be made in the Treasurer’s Office, made online, or mailed with a postmark date of the due date or earlier to be accepted
6

as timely. Any accounts that remain unpaid after the due date will have additional charges added as required by Gloucester County and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
6

Gloucester County is not a prorating locality, so your Personal Property bills reflect what our records show you owned on January 1 of the tax year. This means that if you owned an item in Gloucester County on January 1, you are responsible for the full year’s tax bill. If you see an item on your bill that you got rid of prior to January 1, please contact the Commissioner of Revenue’s Office at (804) 693-3451 or cor@gloucesterva.info to see if your bill can be adjusted.
6

If you buy or sell a real estate parcel, those taxes may be taken care of at closing. If you have a mortgage on your property, your real estate taxes are most likely paid by them. Always remember, though, that it is your responsibility as the property owner to make sure the taxes are paid on time.
6

If you have questions or concerns, we are happy to help! Please reach out to the Treasurer’s Office at (804) 693-2141 or treasurer@gloucesterva.info.
6

Treasurer’s Update
6

You can sign up to get an email notification when your real estate and personal property bills are available. To set up your account, visit https://gloucester.estmt.net (you will need your tax bill from either June or October/November of this year). Setting up an account requires entering the first name line on the bill EXACTLY as it appears (including any commas, periods, etc.) and providing the unique Registration ID found on the back of the bill (upper right-hand corner). Once your account has been created, you are able to add additional tax bills to the same login (even if the names on the accounts are different).
6

If you no longer have your bill, contact the Treasurer’s Office at 804-693-2141 or treasurer@gloucesterva.info, and we’ll be happy to provide you with the necessary information!

A new way to get involved in Gloucester
16

Volunteer River Counties has officially launched in Gloucester — and this free, easy-to-use resource makes volunteering easier than ever! In partnership with the Gloucester Resource Council, you can turn your interests, talents, and passions into meaningful action.
16

If you’re looking to volunteer, you’ll find a simple, stress-free way to browse local opportunities and discover causes that truly inspire you. Just go to VolunteerRiverCounties.org, click "Volunteer Opportunities," and check out postings being added daily.
16

If you’re part of a local organization looking for volunteers, the platform offers a no-cost way to reach new people—and we’re here to help you get set up whenever you’re ready. Visit volunteerrivercounties.org/gloucester-resource-council today to explore how you can get involved and support your neighbors.
16

The Gloucester County Resource Council is a network of human service organizations who meet monthly to share ideas, information and resources. We plan inter-agency efforts in an attempt to maximize community resources and minimize the duplication of services.
16

We created the “How Can We Help You Guide,” served as the catalyst for the creation of the Samaritan Group, Inc. and GUEST, and most recently, started the annual Festival of Trees.
16

We hope that by building awareness of current community services, Gloucester can work together to create new opportunities and resources. We gladly welcome agencies, organizations, businesses or interested individuals to come join us.

Democracy. It’s not a spectator sport; Democracy works best when all people participate.
20

We worked together to elect Democrats up and down the ballot, and we succeeded. Each act of help was another candle lit for Democracy. We’ve talked with so many people who were glad to see us. We’re open to thoughtful people who want to help create positive change, as we did in last November’s election. We always have work to do, and many hands lighten the burden.
20

We are your neighbors, and part of your community. Come to a meeting, talk with us. Yes, Virginia, Democrats are alive and well in Gloucester County!
