Le CSEPR à Montréal La région de Prescott et Russell sera bien représentée lors de Foire nationale de l’emploi de Montréal qui se tiendra les 16 et 17 octobre. Pour les employeurs de la région, la présence du Centre de services à l’emploi de Prescott et Russell (CSEPR) pourrait s’avérer une belle occasion.

L’ORIGNAL | Next year, if local merchants and others along Main Street in Hawkes- bury have any complaints about snow re- moval in winter or cracks and potholes in the pavement in summer, they can take it up with the counties instead of City Hall. The United Counties of Prescott-Russell council (UCPR) have accepted a transfer of responsibility for Main Street and two other streets in Hawkesbury. The transfer agree- ment was approved through a registered vote during the counties council’s Aug. 27 regular meeting.“I’m very happy the (coun- ties) council has recognized our need,” said René Berthiaume, Hawkesbury mayor. Next spring the UCPR will take o!cial re- sponsibility for Main Street in Hawkesbury, which is connected to the counties Route
roads in Prescott and Russell counties in anticipation of future road transfer or ex- change requests. Route 4 for the United Counties of Prescott-Russell will become longer as the counties council agrees to take over responsibility next year for the Main Street connection in Hawkesbury to the route.
Police hunt for hit-and-run driver

The OPP are asking for public assistance in tracking down a hit-and-run driver.Po- lice responded to a call about an accident Aug. 18 on County Road 17 near Wendo- ver. The accident happened just before 3 p.m. The OPP brief states that a Kia model car was eastbound on the road when a late- model two-door Mazda 3 hatchback, blue in colour, made an illegal pass on the right of the Kia and struck the car in passing. The Kia lost control and collided with an onco- ming truck westbound in the opposing lane.
The woman driving the Kia was injured but nothing that was life-threatening. No one else was injured during the accident. The Mazda kept on going and left the accident scene. There is no description given of the man believed to be the driver. The car, which sustained some damage on the driver’s side, was last seen heading east away from the Wendover area. Anyone with information on the hit- and-run is asked to the Hawkesbury OPP detachment at 613-632-2729 or the Cri- meStoppers con$dential tips line at 1-800- 222-8477.
