Local service, international reach We are proud of our heritage and can trace our roots back to 1887 with the founding of Bland & Son Insurance Agency in Colchester. We work with organisations of all sizes and across all industries, looking after clients throughout East Anglia and the UK. From fledgling companies just starting out to established businesses, we take a long view on our client relationships and it is our philosophy to support businesses at all stages of their lifecycle. We are committed to maintaining a personal approach to our client service and combine this with a truly modern approach, regularly advising clients on issues such as cyber risk and protecting against fraud through to online cloud based accounting services.
The best of both worlds Scrutton Bland Limited is part of the Willis Towers Watson Commercial Network, an association of independent insurance brokers. Being part of this network allows us to operate independently, whilst at the same time giving us access to the exclusive underwriting facilities and insurer relationships which come with partnering with one of the World’s largest insurance brokers. We are also members of Nexia International a leading global network of independent accounting and consulting firms, meaning we can support clients with interests outside of the UK.

Tim is one of our Partners, and leads our Insurance Broking business. Tim joined Scrutton Bland in 1990 having previously worked as an underwriter with a leading UK insurer.
Amanda joined Scrutton Bland in 2016 as an Agricultural insurance specialist. Having been responsible for establishing the insurance scheme for the Fram Farmers group in Suffolk, Amanda has a wealth of experience in providing tailored advice to agricultural clients.
Tim’s area of expertise is in the protection arena and advises businesses on their personal protection needs including Life Cover, Critical Illness, Key Person, Partnership or Shareholder Protection and Private Medical Insurance.
